After the misfires at trying to harness some positive internet attention (by trying to manipulate the flow of internet attention), it seems this time Metallica is ready to go BIG with their web friendliness: courtesy of metallica.com (if that screen cap is indication), here’s your first listen of the new Metallica. As they’ve been suggesting live and otherwise, they’re trying to bring it back to the classic era. This performance of new song “Cyanide,” from Dallas’s Ozzfest, bears it out (at the six minute mark, anyway).

Death, sure. But Magnetic? Judge not lest ye be judged yourself.

  1. dude, the forum? jeez. why can’t they play the greek?

just kidding- i wouldn’t be caught dead at a metallica concert.

  2. Umm… Sorry… But this sounds pretty incredible even on low quality. I can’t wait to hear the album.

  3. wait. sorry. eeeeeep.

  4. If you compare this to their last album, it’s pretty good. If you compare it to their back catalog, it’s shit.

If I wanted to hear angry rednecks with horseshoe mustaches screaming at me, I’d go walk around in that weird white ghetto on the east side of town.

Oh shit.. they’re playing near me early in the tour. This is my chance to get some hot backstage action from Lars. I’ve been following them on tour and trying to convince him to let me poop on his chest.

riff o rama- the last of titans- check that tour list- all arenas- like truckers- this band works-all will sell out. Not sure No Age will be doing this anytime soon- accept in
    blog arenas.

  10. Lars Ulrich refuses to be a good drummer. This song is twenty years too late. Gargantuan old man jerk-off session

I agree, now that you point it out, even years ago when I liked their stuff, I always noticed he seemed to play less than other metal drummers, and this song continues the Doom Ch Doom CH Doom CH sound that seems to be the only thing he’s capable of. Where as other drummers hit the snarefaster or mix it with the tom and do blast beats and double bass, etc; he just seems to be content thinking “Hey, I’m fucking lars ulrich, I used to play tennis, I don’t have to do shit besides this and I’ll get another cool mil.

Holy shit, you naysayers have to realize what you are listening to here. These guys have done this shit for years, started before I was even born. And even I have enough maturity to realize when a band doesn’t want to play the same shit over and over and over….Load and Reload were good, to me..because I am a diehard fan and will like them no matter what they put out. They are talented as hell, and have inspired countless musicians through the years. I like Cyanide, its a good song. If you want puppets, go fucking listen to puppets. They Day That Never Comes is amazing too, considering they haven’t played anything like that in years. All you bullshitters need to get a life, find another band to listen to…stop dogging on a band that will still put your balls through the shredder if you hear them live. You are not gonna get the same music out of a middleaged band that you would when they were in their 20′s. If you want the same ole one note song, go listen to Slayer. All of their records sound the same, it should please all of you dumbasses
