The “Too Too Too Fast” live vid was cute, but I’m glad to see Ra Ra Riot put the big push behind “Ghost Under Rocks.” Two weeks ago the band set up with maps and rhumb lines for the official vid, and last night they brought it to 30 Rock for their network TV debut. The song nails the indie-in-the-aughts melancholy that oughta score big with The Kids. It’s what HRO would call “meaningful-core” (i.e. an Alexandra Patsavas-type’s wet dream). And it’s the sort of song that might turn up on the new 90210 one day, although I’ll never know because NEVER AGAIN. Besides all that, though, it seems to enjoy the Conan stamp of approval.

Bonus: the RAC remix of Ra Ra Riot’s “Manner To Act” from last year’s RAC Vol. 1:

The Rhumb Line is out via Barsuk.

I’m glad to see them getting some positive exposure. They’re good people. They aren’t reinventing the wheel, but it’s a good listen in this day in age where we have so many lackluster indie pop bands.

  2. it’s good to see them make good. i guess touring does work.

it would be nice if they had cooperated with the police regarding their drummer’s death

What was there for them to cooperate on? It was an unfortunate accident. Let the band have their peace, they deserve it.

It would also be nice if you would stop trying to discredit the project their drummer contributed his amazing talents, hard work and passion towards. Isnt the important thing here that his music is getting heard and appreciated?

This band is great and is trying to let people hear his music. What else do you want from them? Posting terrible things online won’t bring John back.

I’m not sure if they received a “stamp of approval” I think Conan says that to all his musical guests. I was expecting something along the lines of what he said after My Morning Jacket (“i’m going to buy that album right now!”)

He didn’t seem to love it like he did Yeasayer and MMJ (as well as anything Jack White), but you could tell that he liked it.

Does anyone else have a ridiculously difficult time understand what stereogum is trying to say?

  9. I posted the performance in HD and for iPhone/iPod on my site:
