You have to hand it to Brandon Feathers: The man will not give up on those avian shoulder pads. He wore them in the Killers’ Day & Age promo pics, “Human“‘s dusty video, and they, along with that giant kosher “K,” made the trip to the UK for the band’s rendition of the song on Jools Holland. The performance? The band gets pretty into it. So much so, that one of Brandon’s feathers gets ruffled … or erect? Note the above screen grab and then move on:

So what is with soft arena rock bands like Coldplay and Killers sticking to a uniform? The bigger issue: It’ll be interesting to see how he adapts those wings for zero gravity when they shoot a “Spaceman” video.

Day & Age is out 11/25 via Island.

It’s funny how you made fun of yourselves for covering The Killers (in the election post), and then covered The Killers. Even something as insignificant as their appearance on Jools Holland. Way to go.

If we’re going to be talking about The Killers so close to election day, why aren’t we talking about the fact that Brandon Flowers is probably pop culture’s most famous Mormon, and the Mormon church was just responsible for the reprehensible (and ultimately successful) campaign to ban same-sex marriage in California by amending the state constitution?

Given the fact that Flowers has admitted he is a devout Mormon and that the requirement that Mormons “tithe” (give 10% of their income to the church), his hands are tied up in this. What does he have to say? All I’ve ever seen is the most tepid support of gay people, saying that all people deserve to be treated equally. Not a peep about this campaign or specifically about same-sex marriage.

I, for one, am a (now former) Killers fan who will not be buying their new album and can’t bear to listen to them anymore.

Ugh, you don’t even know what you are talking about. Brandon has said in interviews that he believes everyone should have the same rights and that gay people should be able to get married (of course he was asked because of his Mormon faith). Just because he was born and raised a Mormon doesn’t mean he should be shunned for what the LDS church does. BFlow has a huge gay following. Some of his idols are Elton John, David Bowie, Pet Shop Boys, Morrissey… He’s probably one of the least homophobic frontmen around. .

i’m pretty sure brandon has said that he doesn’t fully follow every mormon tradition, as he for example smokes and drinks or has in the past…and also as he was trying to keep up the image of sexual ambiguity before he married his wife.

  4. They take home the prize for Ugliest Drummer In Rock Music. Look at the faces he makes at 2:46. Brandon must be wearing makeup to try to cancel out the ugly effect.

  5. well, it was well-documented that the Bran-man was steeped in Springsteen on the last album. Maybe this go-round, he’s been listening to a lot of Wings? *Ba-da-BING!* Thank you, thank you.

But seriously – somebody tell Ronnie to get a haircut, eh?

  6. hahhhaa @ Greg. Must be tough being the front man in a band where no one else seems to care about looking cool

is it just me or Brandon Feathers looks like he’s just had a “hit” before he went on stage? Just look at him…

For the fans out there, here’s Spacemen from that same performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkfY58pWyOs

  7. The Killers performed brilliantly on Jools Holland, they just seem to get better and better. Negative comments seem to come from people who don’t appreciate good music or are jealous of their success at becoming one of the biggest bands in the world today.

Do they air Holland’s show in the U.S. anymore?? I know it was on fuse for a while but it seems that music was too much for their music channel as well.
