After all the shenanigans Corgan’s pulled lately, I don’t expect anyone batted a lash at news the Pumpkins had written a new song (“FOL”) expressly to soundtrack an ad for Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe. Unless it was batting a lash because there’s actually a measurable thread of logic here, which is crazy like whoa for Corgan ’09. Anyway Billy’s payday was supposed to come on Super Bowl Sunday, but just watch now so you you can nod knowingly while sitting with your overfed friends this weekend. Also worth noting: this is Billy Corgan’s personal edit of the commercial:
You can edit your own. Hooray.
%s1 / %s2

i wouldve thought that Billy Corgan was at least a KIA type guy
Can’t edit your own in you’re in the UK…
This reminds me of George Lucas’ senior student film, except shorter. The difference? Lucas focused on the car. Corgan focused on being an editor for a commercial about a car. What a self-important schmuck.
That song sounds no bad.
Even Corgan sounds bored…
Hyundai’s advertising is getting more and more obnoxious. First off, do they really expect people to associate Hyundai with Mercedes, BMW and Lexus? Second off, Smashing Pumpkins?
I would kill to be able to drive like that (both to have the skills and a place to put them to use)
That songs sounds very promising – can’t wait to hear the full version!
It’s only 30 seconds, but I don’t actually hate what I hear.
It sounds like Billy just pulled that song out of his arse. Grab a handful of chords, cut a beat or two, throw in some crunch, and wallah!
As a diehard Pumpkins fan, I gotta say that if this is the direction Billy’s taking the band, along with “As Rome Burns,” they’ll be successful again. Just no more 20-minute Pink Floyd covers, Billy, please!
aside from the weird shit billy’s been saying/doing lately, pretty much everything after zeitgeist has been pretty good – superchrist, g.l.o.w., now this
too bad nobody’s listening anymore
the full song is up for free download. the link was posted on the pumkins’ website yesterday. 30 seconds does not do this song justice.
This is actually pretty good. Not AMAZING, but certainly good, and I can’t see why anyone would outright hate this.
Also, nice backing vocals. It’s nice to see that Billy can still use his full vocal range. Crap production, though, get Flood back in there.
