Though he’s deviated here and there, the central aesthetic strain of Beck’s Modern Guilt videos/promos fit a general framework: Black and white, geometric, shadowy, and/or flickering. This new (and seemingly partially recycled) clip for one of Modern‘s lesser tracks “Replica” stays the course and hits all the above points in a fittingly lesser way, which means: Sorry, folks, no dancing Chloe Sevigny or, well, flowering busts.

Actually a pretty meditative way to endlessly extend the promotional period of your album, Mr. Hansen.

Modern Guilt is out.

wow and what the fuck is wrong with being a Scientologist? it doesnt affect his music in a bad way or anything or affecting anything or anyone in a negative way

      • exactly, thank you for saying that. i don’t understand why people find it necessary to comment on Beck being a Scientologist in every every every single thing about him. if none of us knew he was one, we wouldn’t even be able to tell, so why talk about it?

      • I don’t really care that Beck is one, but a few minutes of research will tell you why people lose respect for those who join up.

Even if that is true, I still don’t understand why people can’t just keep Scientology out of everything Beck related. Honestly, why do people feel the need to say “too bad he’s a Scientologist?” If we didn’t know he was one, would we even be able to tell? No. That’s why it doesn’t matter what he is, he makes music, and he’s damn good at it. Who gives a fuck about religion?
