A few weeks ago rumors swirled about some Very Special Secret Guests slated to appear at last night’s Shuffle Mode special at BAM. So you know, see above photo. The night’s lineup was already expansively staffed, with Clogs (which features the National’s Bryce Dessner) and Bell Orchestre (helmed by Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry and Sarah Neufeld) joining the Brooklyn Philharmonic for a night of alternating performances and, ultimately, collaborative support. When Sufjan, Shara Worden, and Aaron Dessner appeared for Clogs’ lullaby “We Were Here” during the show’s second set the crowd reportedly went “apeshit” (obvs). Unless and until that rumored Radio City Dark Was The Night show happens, this was probably as much of the indie rock all-star softball team as we’ll see on one stage for awhile. We sent Santiago Felipe to capitalize on the photo ops, and here’s how the night’s setlist unwound:

John Adams: Shaker Loops, movement 3 “Loops and Verses”

Sufjan is looking pretty hip.
Sujfan?
I’d hit it so hard.
So.
Cute.
As we see here the elusive Sufjan emerges out of his musical hibernation. It’s been four years since his last album surfaced. Let us hope he does not see his shadow.
I’m so glad stereogum is as obsessed with Sufjan Stevens as I am. But, uh, how about a nice flash program for photo galleries? Or go back to the old style with photos flowing one after the other. At least then we can scroll.
Damn, Sufjan’s looking good.
Great concert and performances by stars Sufjan and Shara, but howabout mentioning that pretty well everything these two and Clogs performed, as well as the Queen of Naples orchestral stuff, was composed by Padma Newsome – the guy you saw playing viola. Credit where it’s due, eh?
He lives!
Sufjan= Clive Owen!
