SFA have been promising so many things lately: a new album in three days titled Dark Days/Light Years, featuring a collection of “riffs and grooves” with no pedal steel or country rock (Daf is now phobic), zero acoustic ballads (for now), and a song with Franz Ferdinand’s Nick McCarthy on “doing a German rap” (duh). So many of those things come true this morning. German raps may seem an alien choice for this Welsh/Scotch collab, until you dig into “Inaugural Trams” krauty bounce at which point it is clearly the international language of choice.

The album’s titled Dark Days/Light Years and it’s out digitally via the band’s website on 3/16, which is where you’ll be able to stream a full-album live performance that day at 8PM GMT. You’ll also be able to pre-order the physical release then, which is out 4/13 via Rough Trade.

If you go to the main page now, you can click around for weird video bits from recent days in the studio. Or something.

  3. SFA is the best band of the last 12 years. Simply stunning songwriting. They need more credit.
