Beloved online music radio station KEXP.org took over Bowery Friday night to celebrate one year of co-broadcasting terrestrially at 91.5FM and raise some funds, and you know, respect for the momentousness of that occasion and all, but for most that snapped up tickets to the sold-out show, the evening had a different celebratory center of gravity: The Wrens are back, with the express purpose of banging out new songs with their old battered instruments, and by the count of these photos by Dese’Rae L. Stage, they are looking fucking great doing it. There’s a new album happening. Here’s part of why this is so exciting to us. As it stands you have a few options to check in with the Wrens circa ’09: via text, via MP3, or via flying down to Austin and catching any of these three shows:
03/19 @ Radio Room at 3PM (Agency Group/Brooklyn Vegan day party)
03/20 @ Prague at 1AM (i.e. THURSDAY NIGHT)(AbKosh showcase)
03/20 @ Mohawk at 12PM (Hot Freaks day party)
If NYC is a little closer for you, they’ve also lined up a show with Amazing Baby at the Bell House on 4/10. Buy all the tickets.

anyone that attend care to say how the Wrens were? I am going to the Bell House which I cannot wait for. Also, on a related note Amazing Baby? any good?
Anyone got a set list? Wanna know how many if any new songs were played…
WAS SO GOOD
pretty good show, guys missed a few notes but rocked out pretty hard. new songs were really good, mostly mellow. nothing pre-meadowlands (i think). new arrangements on almost everything
this boy is exhausted (slow intro)
the house guilt built
happy
everyone chooses sides
faster gun
new song
hopeless
new song
maybe another new song, can’t remember
she sends kisses
(encore) this is not what you had planned
Don’t forget they’re gonna be at sasquatch, I’m incredibly excited for that
Show was solid. They had great stage presence and were really rockin. The only thing I could complain about is the set length. They didn’t even make it a full hour on stage. I would have loved to have heard some more new songs but I am not sure if they really have any yet. All and all, it was a fun evening and I’m glad the Wrens are back
Also, TItus Androcious were better then I remember them being the last time. I still think the lead singer’s voice is godawful but whatever, still an alright opening act.
i fucking love titus andronicus, and can’t wait to see them in DC.
No pictures of Jerry?
