A few weeks ago, we posted “Black Hearted Love,” with its slinky, powerful PJ vocals and roaring guitar work by John Parish. It’s reminiscent of Sonic Youth … and the ’90s in general. The song’s dark vibe inspired Ms. Harvey’s wardrobe (black gown, black nail polish) in a new Chapman Bros-directed clip that finds her alone in the woods bouncing in one of those inflatable moonwalks for children. In the rain. In super slow motion. “When you call out my name in rapture/ I volunteer my soul for murder.” Also no shoes on the moonwalk, kids.
Thanks Eddie for the tip.
A Woman A Man Walked By is out 3/30 via Island. I once saw PJ open for the band Live in high school. Neither of us are proud of that.

“Inflatable Moonwalk”? In Britian I believe the correct term is “BOUNCY CASTLE”! The video feels sort of like a more playful lower-budget cousin to Radiohead’s Street Spirit clip. Nice to see Polly having fun anyway.
Polly said recently she was interested in getting into comedy…I love her just for that…she might be serious after all…
please god let her have another acting role but one where she doesn’t just walk around like in the book of life. i think she’d be hilarious in a dysfunctional dark comedy.
love this video..watched it several times now
That riff sounds a bit like Dancing Days, but I dig her singing more than Robert Plant’s.
Taste.
refreshing new grunge sound.very reminicscent of late 80′s early 90′s.let it come again.
oh god, i am thankful to say that i have always dreaded the band ‘Live’…i’m so glad they are now dead.
love it. best of 2009?
John Parish listened to “Friction” and, wanting to sound like Tom Verlaine, took the feel and slowed it down. I like it though.
Maaaaaaan! I fucking love her…
