Smiley sweethearts Matt & Kim know how to keep production costs low on their videos. For the price of some Andrew W.K. whites and assorted foods, “Yea Yeah” was a memorable clip. This one for Grand‘s “Lessons Learned,” where the lean-muscled couple walk and strip their way through Times Square, is even cheaper (because they just walk and strip). Except for what I imagine would be a fairly expensive-cleanup-bill finale. Taylor Cohen directs, holds the camera, and also probably needs to be better at warning Kim about things before they happen.

Who is the intended audience for this band? I don’t get it. It’s one of the strangest phenoms I’ve ever seen. Never heard anyone anywhere ever talk about Matt and Kim in a positive light, yet they continue to make music and play festivals and have a following. Is it all teenagers? Who likes this?

I did get a sesne that there sound is moving (slightly) away from what i percieved as a novelty act … just my opinionion (I feel so defensive posting opinions …lol)

Matt and Kim are an entertaining, fun band. There are not enough of those. Great energy all the time.
And, although kim is not a model, are you really calling her a boy and ugly? She has a great smile and body and 99% of the male population would be so lucky.
I’d vote for Kim having the #1 smile in indie rock based almost entirely on the fact that she maintains it constantly. Definitely the most exuberant drummer I’ve ever seen live.

I’m as big of a hater as anyone… but I draw the line at critiquing someone’s body. It’s no wonder so many folks have eating disorders and image complexes. These are real people you’re talking about.
With that said, their music is no bueno.

i love this band so much. mesay said it best i think, they’re just incredibly fun and entertaining. try seeing them live and not smiling.

I just checked their MySpace page and other random pictures online. I think she is pretty. I don’t really care for the rocker-emo look or whatever she has going on, but she is a pretty woman. I don’t listen to them, and to be quite honest, hadn’t heard of them until this video.
