Aside from some one-off solo tracks as White Antelope, Robin Pecknold has been quiet since taking over playlists and year-end lists with his band of Fleet Foxes. He’s shed his once-prolific Twitter account, and before deleting the archives he suggested it was time to strap in and get serious about writing new FF material. A reemergence might be approaching, if today’s session for BBC6 Music’s Glastonbury coverage is an indication: Here Robin performs a plaintive and existential, finger-picked folk ditty with the working title “Blue Spotted Tail.” It’s unaccompanied, so you’ll have to fill in the harmonies yourself.
Thanks for the tip, Peenko. Fleet Foxes are scheduled to play Glastonbury today. If you’re headed there, might wanna bring mudboots.
UPDATE: Here’s video of Robin performing it for the first time in concert, at Huxley’s in Berlin. (Thanks for the heads up, Marcel.)

Absolutely amazing. Ever since their debut album I knew they were going to be one of the biggest indie rock bands of recent years. I can’t wait for the release of this album.
another great song.
i really think he is something else.
astonishing, though i miss the harmonies.
but… anyone who calls FF ‘indie rock’ must be over 40- not that it’s a bad thing, just learn your genres, folks.
Relax, nerd
hmmmm, and band on an idie label…..pretty sure that means indie rock. I dont understand why people think indie rock is a genre, its not, its just a label for bands not a major labels even though lots of bands people call indie rock isn’t at all. It really has nothing to do with how you sound. Anyway, the new song is great.
To be fair guys your both right, its not stereotypical indie british rock music, its new weird america, the folk revival, however the man saying that indie, as a record label, as in independent label; is very right in saying that it has been pinched as a collective for quite a lot of shit coming out of britain. so let it be as the beatles said and give paolo nutini’s album a listen cause it is god damn amazing and also give devendra banhart a listen (nino rojo) is a brilliant album. peace out X
alright Steve, what genre, in your mind, do the fleet foxes fall under?
I am over forty , and I call it like nothing i’ve ever heard before , whatever it is , its superb . Watched them in wolverhampton , u.k. last night , it was a privelidge to have them in our city, and hope they will come back soon ! p.s. I’ve converted my 61 year old work colleague to them also !!
indie rock? what’s that?
it’s like Inidan Rock but less Bollywood
never could spell
its like dylan having the voice of an angel. a man angel.
i love fleet foxes so fucking much. they have yet to disappoint.
they are the radiohead of indie folk. and yes.. its indie bitches.
The “Bridge Over Troubled Water” album was Paul’s moment to say he could be just as good as Paul if he wanted to…
I still think these guys aren’t as great as everyone is led to believe. Actually with exception to a few artists, most indie folk is pretty lame.
and “Mr Blue Angel Dude” is not lame at all……
Greatness.

These italics are making my head hurt. Just though I would say that there is a benefit for Vera in Seattle and Robin Pecknold is performing. Vera project is a great thing and deserves support, so if you are in Seattle go!
Heard their headline set at the Paradiso Tue night was incredible!! Robin did a couple new songs solo sans mic that were jawdroppingly good. Can’t wait to see them on the 30th!
