Blackberry’s words, not ours.Their new ad campaign for the upcoming Mobile version of No Line On The Horizon features live footage of Bono & Co. going Coldplay through “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” followed by the tagline: “Blackberry Loves U2.” But why? Big claim with zero backup, Blackberry. It wasn’t too long ago that U2 clearly loved Apple products. This looks enough like an iPod ad, though, that the guys probably didn’t notice the shift (it’s like dating someone who sort of resembles your ex, Bono). The Apple tie-in was before they launched a 360° Tour that needed to be seen (and sponsored) from every angle. Here’s one angle.

The U2 Mobile Album teaser on Blackberry’s new U2 page is a bit more explanatory about the specific features.

My firend was at the opening U2 concert in Barcelona,he said there was not one section of the stadium or stage that had anything with the words Blackberry on it..my guess the sponsorship is strictly media only…nothing else, the band is supposedly covering the $150 million dollar tab it cost them for this tour,as they have always paid for their own tours in the past

I can defend the TV show “Friends”, great cast…solid writing…but it spawned SO MUCH evil…The same can be said about the success of U2 this century…It’s gotten to the point that at first…I didn’t know if this was even really U2 or one of the knock off bands from the mid west…or France…Never count out Bono though…

    Blackberry, you so cray-zay.

  4. Wow, those Blackberry guys are so hip.

  5. I wonder if Bono used his Blackberry when he invested $150M in Palm.

  6. How does Bono deal with being a fancy advocate for poverty relief and a shill for commoditized triple sponsored music at the same time?

  7. what is this, blackberrygum.com over here… i ain’t paying for that, not once, not never. no way.

  8. I usually defend U2 but this combo of terrible awful song and corporate whoring is just too much for me.

  9. I really like U2′s songs like With or Without You and Sunday Bloody Sunday.. as well as Blackberry (in photos). I haven’t really touched a Blackberry. For real.. I live in the Philippines and it seemed that nobody cares about it.

I am just glad U2 finally came up with some good original material. Hadn’t seen that since the mid 80′s.
