In this 9-minute Danny Clinch-directed Backspacer promotional video you get the usual empty talk about how Pearl Jam’s ninth album is the best album of the band’s career and plenty of old ‘n wise philosophizing. That said, you also get a listen to a new western-tinged ballad “Just Breathe” and a look at the band digging into “Got Some” and “The Fixer.” All in all, the guys appear to be in a good place, even if you’re not digging the fruits of said place.
Backspacer is out 9/20.

“even if you’re not digging the fruits of said place”
none of us are looking for jeremy 2 except for you
“Got Some” and “The Fixer.” i like
Consistency will be one of the big legacies for PJ.
‘Just Breath” sounds very promising.
Assuming your audience won’t be “digging the fruits of said place” assumes your audience is composed of shallow, snarky, alterna-hipsters. Oh wait.
Love ‘Got Some’… sounds better than the conan performance. ‘Just Breathe’ sounds a lot like ed’s Into The Wild songwriting… which isn’t a bad thing.
“usual empty talk about how Pearl Jam’s ninth album is the best album of the band’s career ”
They never made this claim. Ya, they did on the last album, but I don’t hear that here anyway.
