The music/fashion overlap’s a natural one, so no big surprise that Chairlift’s donning Marc Jacobs’ fall line for Saks.com and the store’s four-part video series “MARC BY MARC JACOBS Ready-To-Wear and Accessories Collections.” (Amrit, Scott, and I are doing part two.) To launch the campaign, the Brooklyn trio played Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York store on Saturday. You can take a look at this run through of “Evident Utensil” sans VMA-nominated eye and pixel-warping: Their straight-up performance is inter-cut with the band enjoying Marc Jacobs, variously. They enjoy Jacobs even more in three other non-performance clips, one called “For The Love Of Tacos.” Ironically, the video spots are much less fashionably smooth than previous visual treatments for “Bruises” and “Ceiling Wax.”

For the clothes horses amongst you, you’ll find more info on the threads and bags at Saks.com. The trio heads out on tour soon with John Maus as a guest fourth member. Maus will also open for Chairlift in some cities. Occasionally, the band’s opening for Phoenix and/or the Killers.

so let me get this straight…theyre OPENING for phoenix on 20 odd dates, but theyre headlining their OWN show in san francisco on the same night phoenix is playing? thats just a tad irritating, as id love to catch both. but phoenix obviously takes the cake here.
