Nice to hear new music from Brit folkie Beth Orton; her last LP came out 3½ years ago. Also nice to hear piano ballad “Reach For The Sky” as Judee Sill never recorded it but left behind sheet music. Stream the cut from tribute comp Crayon Angel (out 9/22) here.

I tried to listen as if I didn’t know who wrote it…Those great background vocals on “You Turn Me On,I’m a Radio” came to mind…

Absolutely brilliant in every possible way. I’m a huge Judee Sill fan and this is a fitting legacy; a haunting epitaph for her tragically brief music career. It’s like discovering a lost prayer in a dead language and witnessing its translation by a team of careful, loving experts. The resulting message is magical.
