Alex Turner’s hair has been gracing some large and brightly lit stages this summer in support of their darker turn on Humbug — including their coming out party as a legitimate US festival band with one of Lollapalooza‘s standout sets — so it’s nice to see what they can do in a smaller auditorium these days. What they couldn’t do is cajole their new album’s producer to guest with them onstage in his hometown, but apparently Homme-boy and honorary fourth Them Crooked Vulture Alain Johannes was in attendance to lend moral support. On hand were the Like (opening the night a new lineup) and Andrew Youssef (delivering this set of pics).

it’s turner.
I never really gave them a good listen until recently, but damn, the Arctic Monkeys are really, really good.
I’ll be the first to say he seemed really distant, unconnected during that show.
I never paid attention the Monkeys too much until the Shadow Puppets album, which really caught me off guard and was just great. Thus, I got the Humbug album, and again, really good. Turner is a hell of a songwriter. I’m really digging it.
This band is a disgrace to the fender jazzmaster. Even while playing the best guitar in the world they manage to make the most boring music I have ever heard.
Very impressive live band. They sound checked to Zeppelin and Sabbath riffs. fucking dope man.
