You’ve all seen (and cried about) the trailer. Now it’s time to hear (and cry about?) Karen O & the Kids’ Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack. Like the first single “All Is Love” suggested, the collection has a dreamy childlike feel to it. As we mentioned, though, Karen’s Kids include Brian Chase and Nick Zinner, Bradford Cox, and two Raconteurs in addition to that cutesy children’s choir, so not everything here — a noisy guitar riff, a sad ballad, etc. — is necessarily for (or by) the little ones.
Meet the band:
The Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack is out 9/29 via DGC/Interscope.

I certainly understand how this is perfect for the movie, but it’s not something I’d want to listen to alone.
I suppose if you aren’t a huge fan of Karen O or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs this might not be your cup of tea. But I personally love her and I could listen to this album all day.
the shit is good ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-a solid theme to build off makes for great tunes.
Worried Shoes and Hidaway bitches!
“worried shoes” is one of the better daniel johnston covers i’ve heard
This simply sounds like nothing less than the perfect soundtrack to Where The Wild Things Are.
am I the only person that does not care about this movie?
(no I did not sign in so this will not look nice)
or the soundtrack?
or yeah yeah yeahs?
i think stuff like this is made for stoned chicks, you know, like project runway marathons
your instincts that you are a moron are spot on…
I’m glad Bradford Cox is on the soundtrack but I think that Karen O is a total hack and I wish that Spike Jones would stop using her for his projects.
She’s already milked the Siouxie Sioux angle to death and now she’s blatantly ripping off Danielson in All is Love.
As for the person who said that her Worried Shoes cover was one of the best Daniel Johnston covers, I have to disagree. The Daniel Smith/Sufjan Stevens cover of the same exact song is even better.
typical hipster critic. Karen O channeling Siouxie should be applauded since no one else had the balls to do it. But even a Surfjan Stevens-citing-hipster-balloonhead like you would have to admit that Karen O has taken what you derisively call the “Siouxie Sioux angle” to another level and is a compelling performer and musician. Otherwise you are just a hipster naysayer who should be summarily beaten in your short sleeve button down thrift store shirt.
so why do you even come to this web site?
Why is it that when people have differing opinions they feel the need to snuff out the opinions of others? Isn’t it a matter of taste? I am not allowed to enjoy something because you feel it is hipster bullshit? If you don’t like it that is fine, you are entitled to your own opinion. But at least try to keep your critics civil and back your opinions up with facts instead of ranting about how much you hate the songs. Can’t we have a grown up conversation where we discuss our differing opinions and not name call?
I smell Oscar for Karen O… or maybe a Golden Globe at the most. I hope she gets an Oscar nom though just so she can wear something that’ll be the new Bjork swan dress.
I can’t wait for this movie. Enough Said.
mm that was good.. now the movie, please. quit stalling.
where can we get the arcade fire “wake up” version that they recorded just for the soundtrack?
im asking the same question.
Thirded.
I can’t wait to get all my little cousins to see this flick! Such a perfect soundtrack, and I think it does stand by itself pretty well! “Worried Shoes” is a favorite.
Is anyone else getting the whole 30 second preview thing?
Yeah you’ll find that Spike Jonze (not Jones) hasn’t used Karen O in every project that he has worked on. Fool. Sort your facts out!
Street Artists in New York City did a mural called “Where the Wild Robots Are” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcotdnonBjk
anyone who doesn’t get this movie, doesn’t get LIFE. unbelievable.
wonderful. I wish I had a wild thing to hug.
i wonder if they play birthday parties.
i reallly like tho song in the commerical previews….does anyone know what that song is?
It’s either Wake Up by the Arcade Fire, or All is Love.
love it. can’t wait to see the movie. can’t wait to buy the soundtrack. i think it does stand alone. great music to design to, craft to or clean the house to. if you don’t get Where The Wild Things Are maybe your childhood was just too perfect?
Listening to this wishing it were Danielson Famile. Anyone?
this makes me feel alive
wow perfect sound track! im soooo super duper excited to see my favorite childhood book as a movie!
in my opinion all the songs with the “child choir” sound like Arcade Fire tracks. Canadians know what i’m talkin’ bout!
just sayin….bet iTunes would Genius that shit up together. sounds pretty uh, familiar.
wow some of those early posters were real babies, huh?
I am so glad to read that there are people out there who are as excited for this movie as I am!
The song in the commercials is Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” .. it doesn’t sound like they recorded a new version but instead took bits and pieces from the original and remixed it.. (that song is my favorite song!)
The previews give me shivers!
Im embarassed for you guys that this movies going to suck
Well for people like you there will always be another Hannah Montana Sings the Hits movie for you to pop your pimples in front of…
soundtrack sounds like it would fit the movie perfectly. I think this is going to be one of the greatest movies of ALL TIME…the trailer was so good.
beautiful + fun all the way through! I love Karen O on this project. Luv Luv this soundtrack. looking forward to seeing the film even more now.
Screw that New Moon soundtrack, this is the one for me.
..this is a childrens book. this is for kids and adults who read this book when they were kids. so if u honestly think that this is for girls who get them selves stoned ur a complete moron. And im really sorry you cant enjoy this movie
The movie was amazing. The songs are great.
I was listening to the soundtrack right before I left to go see the movie, so I recognized half the songs in it. (the songs fit in SEAMLESSLY by the way) and was even to sing along with the song in the credits (All Is Love)
love it… best movie ever <3 made me sad when max went home…
I would like to make love to Karen O. Not in a dirty way. I want her to be my girlfriend.
Saw the movie on holiday in the States. Took my 3 year old nephew who loved it and downloaded the soundtrack for him when we got home. He spent the next 3 days humming All is Love. Amazing movie, amazing soundtrack…even for a 3 year old : )
