Both Jason Molina and Centro-matic’s Will Johnson have had a bloggable 2009 — Molina turning out some lovely tracks and playing pool parties with Magnolia Electric Co., Johnson turning up on drums for Monsters Of Folk — but before it’s over they’ll have one more project to promote with the Molina & Johnson LP, under the name Molina & Johnson, starring Molina & Johnson. The pair met at a Magnolia show in 2007, made a record in Texas in 2008, and are putting it out now. Their collaborative rollout gets under way with “Twenty Cycles To The Ground”: a little organ, drums and acoustic guitar, Jason driving the low-key cut with his reedy vocal, the pair harmonizing like they’ve known each other for closer to 20 years than two.

UPDATE: Here’s another…

Good song.
Just miss the gloomy style Jason had with the better Songs: Ohia releases.
Pretty sure it’s Johnson singing on that song not Molina.
Molina….SLOW DOWN!!! You churn songs out like wolves churn out howls….
Easy there, you’re churning out similes like the Amish howl out butter.
such a beautiful cover photo
Fuck monsters of folk, THIS is going to be the supergroup to watch.
