In 1967 the 20-year-old Bowie received a letter from a 14-year old girl in New Mexico and was so excited he immediately sat down and typed her a page-long reply. “My real name is David Jones … I hope one day to get to America.”

    That brings me back to that time when I realised “A Day In The Life” and all those other songs was actually the same band that did “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”…Amazing! ;)

    I have to agree. There’s something sweet about his response and his apparent giddiness at receiving fan mail.
