If you missed Justin Vernon’s trek to his alma mater, the night’s been memorialized on A Decade With Duke, available at Amazon. (Thanks for the tip, Jesse.) All proceeds will be donated to Eau Claire Memorial High’s band program.
I gotta say, between this and that fucking graveyard concert, your boy Vernon has pretty much been doing barrel rolls over the proverbial shark for a few months now. What an odd crash grab this is.
Maybe this was updated after you posted, Mr. Huh?, but it looks like this is the furthest thing from a cash grab: “All proceeds will be donated to Eau Claire Memorial High’s band program.”
Seven or Eight of my friends are in this band. I was at the concert and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
My friends also had the joy of taking some smoke breaks with Mr. Vernon, and by all accounts he is quite possibly one of the most humble and awesome rock stars around. Use your imagination.

what a bizarrely cynical comment and trite use of the overused, let’s-leave-it-in-the-00s “jump the shark” diss, “huh?”

Yep, that was recently updated. It is a cashgrab, for charity. Everyone’s right, everybody wins! Happy holidays.
Greedy band geeks!
