It was a pretty lucky night for Supergrass’ covers-only Zappa-nodding side-project to bring their “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” to Late Night television. They did the performance for Letterman Wednesday during the (then) height of this Conan Vs. Leno business. Gaz wore a skirt, no doubt inspired by the night’s first guest Kiefer Sutherland. (Incidentally, Letterman was killing it. Though, yeah, the true American hero this week is Jimmy Kimmel). Here’s Hot Rats doing their best Beastie Boys impression from the forthcoming Turns Ons. Complete with sexy mannequins.
Silly, but not silly bad. (And definitely not Diamond Hoo Ha Man bad.) For your weekend:
Turn Ons is out 1/25 via Fat Possum. They also put their stamp on the Kinks, the Doors, Pink Floyd, etc. Feeling cramped, Peter Gabriel?

it’s actually a really good record.
It’s like they put it in a Who machine…
No shit rinj, I thought it was We Won’t Get Fooled Again when it first started, lol.
I’ve got sunshine in my stomach…
fuck yeah!!!!!!
I didn’t know Jack White was in yet another band. Seriously, the voice, the musical style, the hair, the hat, the clothing color palette. The only thing that appears to separate him is the dress. Nice dress btw.
they did “queen bitch” on I think it was conan last night… good stuff!
It was Jimmy Fallon actually. Supergrass doing a badass covers album…Im sold.
the BB cover was just ok, but they rocked the hell out of ‘queen bitch’ with some members of the roots on jimmy fallon.
