Scott Weiland Booted From Velvet Revolver For Not Being "100% Committed," Preps More Extensive STP Tour

thumbnail icon: Scott Weiland Booted From Velvet Revolver For Not Being "100% Committed," Preps More Extensive STP Tour

Last week we reported on Velvet Revolver's bitchy blog posts after on-stage drama in Glasgow and the path they were taking toward a breakup. Turns out the Revolvers will keep on keeping on, but apparently without Scott Weiland. Nothing's been posted at drummer Matt Sorum's personal site, but Slash, Duff McKagan, Sorum and Dave Kushner have released a statement...

Via MTV:

"This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," Slash said in the statement. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems [Weiland recently finished a stint in rehab] have forced us to move on."
When called for additional comment, the band's management, Sanctuary, said everything the band had to say on the matter was in the press release. The band played the final date of its European tour in Amsterdam earlier on Tuesday.

Guys, this is your chance of merging with Axl, and to maybe get us a can of Dr. Pepper in the process. As far as Weiland, Billboard reports that STP are adding "a full-fledged summer amphitheater tour to its previously announced U.S. festival dates." (These dates). Via Billboard:

Details are still coming together, but a source close to the alt-rock band says STP will play more than 50 shed dates this summer and into fall, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival on May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium...
Further details about STP's upcoming tour will be announced during an April 7 press conference at the Harry Houdini Estate in Los Angeles. Sources say that Los Angeles-based Live Nation will produce many dates on the upcoming trek. It is still unclear whether or not the band will record new material.

Oh, yeah, bands write songs ... not just bitchy blog posts and statements.

I hear Chris Cornell is looking for work after nobody gave a shit about his recent solo album.

STP i= Stone Temple Moustache Men. Mediocre Massengill Rock (with Extra Mild Vinegar and a side dish of Leather Trousers and Expressive Eyebrows).

Velvet Revolver = Joker Rock U.S.A. Perhaps if they get a new singer, loosen up a bit and replace the downtempo 7 minute Mott The Hoople covers with some hooky two-minute-tand-hirty-three second songs, they could become a decent band.

At least Duff McKagan was in The Fastbacks once upon a time, eventually got sober and (post G-n-R) earned a degree in accounting. (I believe) he's actually a CPA.

Until then, the eco-friendly Slash might wanna consider driving his Hummer over to Axl's Malibu compound with an olive branch and a case of Dr. Pepper in tow..

It's time for:

Rock Star: Velvet Revolver

Axl claims to be the last real rock icon and he may be right, because choads like him only care about rocking till they are in their 50's. They have no interest in promoting new acts and real talent. They realize that they can make more money just from their name and not there music.
The dinosaurs need to melt away, realize that they are old and over, stop saturating the world with their lame over-produced crap, and stop sucking up to the 'industry' has no clue.
Just a thought.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...
