Thirsty Scott Stapp Awaits Massive Headache

Stereogum helps with the chronology of Creed dude's ongoing bender...

Last Thursday an "out of control" Stapp started a barroom brawl with 311. Tuesday he "terrorized" Howard Stern's girlfriend Beth Ostrosky. The intoxicated Christ rocker is expected to sucker-punch Jeff Conaway by day's end.

Probably best to stay indoors until this whole thing blows over. Log on to ScottStappAddict.com for updates?

First!

If Scott Stapp and 311 get into it, who do you root for? They suck in different, yet equally fascinating ways. It sounds like some crazy VH1 special... When Washed-Up 90's Rock Stars Collide!

Awesome. Lately, it's like he's challenging Pete Doherty for the title of Most Fucked-Up Rockstar.

Anyway, maybe I'm a little biased since I still have a bit of a soft spot for 311, but I'm not sure I would label them as being washed-up. They've definitely passed their commercial peak, but they've been going strong as a band for something like 15 years now and they continue to have a very loyal fanbase that follows them around and will stick with them as long as they keep touring. They seem like they've sort of turned into an alt-rock Phish or something. Self-destruction aside, I doubt that Stapp will be able to hold on to his Creed fans for anywhere near that long.

I have a friend who was at the Denny's in Gainesville, FL when those drunk college kids were playing a prank on him. Funny story. The guys a hack, but I've never had more fun than singing along with "Arms Wide Open" with all of my friends on a car radio.

that Mtv article left out the priceless quote that i read in the Baltimore paper this morning:

'But Stapp later came into the Harbor Court Hotel bar while Sexton and band mates Doug "SA" Martinez and "P-Nut" were watching basketball on television. He stepped in front of the screen and said, "311, I am ready to fight," according to Sexton'

When Scott Stapp fights 311, I root for PAIN.

PAIN FOR EVERYONE.

(when I first read the headline, I was going to side with 311... but I didn't realize a member of 311 calls himself "P-Nut". That's simply unacceptable)

Insiders tell me that Stapp actually groped dude form 311's wife, and said dude from 311 had to lay the smackdown.

What would Jesus say, Scott? What would Jesus say?

Not that I would ever question the journalistic integrity of MTV.com, but I think it's fair to point out that the only source for that article is a member of 311. In another version of the story I saw elsewhere, a member of the hotel security staff pretty clearly put the blame for the fight on 311, not Stapp.

That doesn't make him any less of a washed-up, buffoonish, no-talent asshole, of course . . .

this is funny as shit on 98 rock in baltimore maryland they said 311 was whatching tv in a bar so scott walked infront of the t.v. and said 311 im ready to fight and nothing happened so he was witting bar naps and throwing them at 311 lol now I dont know if this is the true story but if a hole band can take crap from one drunk warshed up singer and not woop his ass I say 311 is a bunch of pussy.

okay. so when the new scott stapp record came out, I joked with a friend about a supposed battle of religous rockers, between scott stapp and cat stevens. the headline the day after, stapp snapps cat. hilarious only to me.

Before he announced, " 311 I'm ready to fight!" He was heard to mumble, "You broke my cross, Motherfuckers!"
Next, Scott Stapp composes, "Not If You Were the Last P-Nut on Earth!"

So, uh, Fuckthelonely, why was homophobia necessary in that riposte? Just curious.

First off I am a 311 fan. I'm not going to rip on any of you who have ripped on 311. That would against what their music stands for. We are all entitled to our own opinions. I just find it funny that a story about a fight makes all of you want to fight......OVER THE FUCKING INTERNET!! come on people say what you have to say but get off of your high horses and get over whatever someone else is saying, if you don't like it then GET OVER IT!!

I saw 311 this summer at the tweeter center in mass.It holds 20,000 people and was sold out.If that means that they are "washed up" then i hope i can someday be "washed up".

Of course you root for 311. First of all, Scott Stapp had it coming to him. He's nothing but a washed up addict/musician trying to sell a solo album to anyone other than his own family. Secondly, you don't go effin with 311. You make an innapropriate comment to someone's wife, you deserve an ass kicking. And did you notice Stapp and his spokesman didnt have any comments to the press to back their argument up? But i find all this shit amusing. And Salt is right; what's the point fighting over who said what. We are all intitled to our own opinions and it shouldn't be right to step on what someone has said. Don't let it get to your head, be above the other person, simple as that. But aside from that: live, love, breathe, thrive, experience.

I was his s s.s fan once and it hurts when
u find out the star is not what u thought or
when u r confused about him. I suppose to dig
deep maybe I fell for him and now I feel alone or
jealous. I suppose any number of diztsy groupie
girls feel like me too.

He was so extremely nice to me not really all that long ago
but in a way that confused me a lot via some
well I wont say who or how it it came about.
Because he was so nice to me I started to get a
sense of him now I feel even more confused that
he is in this situation. I cant understand famous
people and I dont think I want to understand.
I would have had a conflicting time being with
someone who has
no privacy who wants to be a football coach on the side and
who never listens to music no matter how well he sings.
I love solo sports and feel I left the world of tv behind in
highschool with the whole homecoming clickee scenery.
I listen to music about twenty hours a day and poet. He
needs silence to sing.
Men go on the road and I cant imagine what rock star wives
live thru day by day with lots of stories from fans like me
to keep them worried or jealous.
