Karen O on the new album, via MySpace:

"Show Your Bones is what happens when you put your finger in a light socket. Maybe there is some of that electric current flowing through the tracks of our album illuminating us from the inside out for you to laugh at and cry to or fry to. Or not."
Squeak E Clean, who you'll remember did that great YYYs Adidas song, produced.

I found out a few weeks ago that Squeak E. Clean is Spike Jonze's brother. Holy super-genes Batman! The new single is painfully good.

so what kind of wild speculation have people come up with in terms of Chan Marshall cancelling the tour?

What's your problem? You can't list Hoboken as the start of the tour on Feb. 23?

I always expect the worst. So when it comes to Chan's health problems, I hope it's not CANCER!

I like the new song, not as much as I enjoyed Karen O tricking the press by saying that it was going to be a concept album about her cat. That was priceless.

That Squeak E. Clean song is awesome.

I still have yet to see the YYYs on tour so I'm looking forward to them (hopefully) coming to Ohio. Man, I need to live in another state.

This sounds a whole lot like Love & Rockets' "No New Tale to Tell" if you ask me. Which you didn't. But it does.

bill p, you and radio person axel agree. he played the new yyy song, directly followed by the love & rockets tune. 'twas similar indeed

the diplo remix sounds even more like tegan and sara. someone should link up this love rockets song so we can compare.

The new YYY single is a bit of a let-down. Maybe it will grow on me. I was expecting a different sound, but I was hoping they'd go more along the lines of "Maps" and "Y Control."

Maybe they didn't notice how quickly everyone got sick of =w='s Beverly Hills.

wow. i actually really like the single. sounds like some good guitar-riff rock. a little over-produced, but i'm really digging this track. i'm glad to see they didn't just take their first CD and duplicate the results, like the other two NYC darling bands.

i was scared for a second it was gonna be just like "beverly hills" by weezer, which by the way thanks to kidz bop i can't imagine that song being sang by weezer, just screechy kids. i didn't care for it much even when it was weezer.

i like gold lion tho.

re: Love and Rockets rip-off comment.
Who actually says things like "rip-off" and means it? Kelly Clarkson "ripped-off" YYYs, but that doesn't mean her song was bad. I thought, in the age of the mash-ups and mix tapes and covers these concerns were behind us. In fact, isn't it more impressive that YYY's have "ripped-off" Love and Rockets (who, by the way, "ripped-off" their name from a comic book) and created something new and interesting from it?

I dont' know - i'm not really feeling this YYY's joint. I have crazy expectations for this- and it's coming off like a post - williamsburg version of Veruca Salt...

same here. i thought the "original" version sounded flat and boring. the beginning reminded me of - of all things - tegan and sara. gurgle.

oh shit, someone else was thinking the tegan and sara thing. i need to start reading threads.

Totally sounded like T&S. But surprisingly, I kinda liked it, even though I am not a YYY fan.

man, that was terrible. i thought they were supposed to go folky on this one! and what's with that terrible double-tracking on karen o's voice? the aol session proved she's got crazy pipes.

dah.

Boring, lame, and mundane. (Apparently a rip off of a Love and Rockets tune, too... Can't vouche for that last one, tho'!)

Woo-hoo!

...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

P.S. -- You can almost sing "I Want to Get Away" by the Kravit-izer to it if you close yr eyez and try, try, try.

A huge dissapointment, I agree with the earlier message about "Cheated Hearts" being the best YYY song. I cant beleive this is acually them, But hey maybe it will be like "Maps", cause that song sucked and the rest of the album was amazing. O yeah whats with the double voice of karen thats crappy, stick to the old stuff way better.

I love T&S but I don't like this. The double-tracking of the vocals gives it a T&S feel and the plodding pace is reminiscent of Walking With a Ghost which is a T&S song I always skip. Hopefully this isn't a harbinger of things to come.
