Eddie Van Halen Working With The Spielberg Of Porn

Eddie Van Halen, who debuted some new music in LA last week, is getting into adult film. NY Post reports:

Eddie Van Halen has coupled up with porno director Michael Ninn to write and perform two songs for the new Ninn Worx feature, Sacred Sin. This will be the first time a famous rocker has lent his name to an adult film, AVN.com reports. The tunes are called "Rise" and "Catherine," a remix of the theme from Ninn's 2005 movie of the same title. Van Halen is not worried he'll be criticized for penning porn music. "I'm working with a friend - very simple. I like his work. Michael Ninn is like Spielberg to me: the imagery, the way he makes things look, just sensual," he said.
Beats working with Gary Cherone.

As for Diamond Dave, Sia Michael reviewed DLR's NYC show for the Times early this month.

Fans audibly gasped when “And the Cradle Will Rock” kicked in, lavishing Mr. Roth with Devil-sign praise. He beamed with delight, and the world suddenly felt like a warm, forgiving place.

Then something terrible happened.

The show kept going.

It was "very, very, very sad."

I find nothing sensual about Van Halen. They're the opposite of sensual, i think.

The cocaine not only ate away his hips, but also his brain.

AVN has it wrong - as far back as the 70s, there was a rock-porn connection going on. The Tubes (in their early punk who-gives-a-squat days) not only contributed music but actually appeared in concert footage in "Behind the Green Door."

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt
