2007 MTV VMA Nominees: Full List

A bunch of dumb new categories for you to peruse after the jump, but first one bright spot: Kanye and Justice going head-to-head again.

Video of the Year

Terrible songs. MTV sucks so badly, like i haven't watched MTV in like.. 1 year, and my MTV 2's been cut for like 2 months so i won't be touching the TV any soon.

It's pretty sad that mainstream popular music has degenerated into a homogenized grouping of crappy R&B and watered-down hip-hop. It's almost strange to see The White Stripes on the list.

normally i don't put *too much* stock into the whole "homogenizing" of popular music. i think it, but don't say it too often. but this list is so unbearably atrocious i'm actually stunned.

kids who like music will always eventually find quality, but it sure looks like the major labels, corporations, and entertainment stations these days want to make it as difficult as possible for them to do so.

Ugh, most of these songs are pretty annoying. Best thing I got out of it was when I was looking at the noms for Best Editing. I thought it said the Shakira and Beyonce vid was nominated by Jarret Fig!, and I was like "cool! Who's Jarret Fig, and why is he so exciting?" Fun times.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a large list of shitty music before. The White Stripes were the only thing that broke up the horrible horrible bands. Well, I admit I like Green Day, but not U2, so that kinda cancels out.
And I agree with fatso. The major labels are really letting us down these days.

I know I am going to get shit for this.. but amy winehouse is pretty awesome despite what all the hipsters now think of her.. and thats about all on that list that is worth a damn..

its also pretty impressive that "rehab" is up for any nomination since amy's people never really pushed that video on mtv or that single on radio at all... most people saw it online on youtube.. I personally think the song "rehab" may have been too risque for the major labels to take a chance on.. despite it being the song that put amy to no. 1 in the UK...

I could rant about it even longer.. Amy's image was pushed (too hard) here in the US... her music was NOT!.. and I just dont get what the stateside labels are thinking.. egh..major labels are so lame! argh

I absolutely love how Peter Bjorn and John and Amy Winehouse are considered "new" artists.

I do like how much they're getting love (Justice too), but damn, you have to wonder if the people who work at MTV that are true, red-blooded music fans are absolutely embarrassed to say they work there.

Wow, MTV still plays music videos? I woudlnt have known considering all the shitty reality shows they play 24/7. Remember music shows like Alternative Nation, 120 Minutes, AMP, Headbangers Ball? They should at least bring those back to bring balance to the channel.

It's not that I think that rock is the only good genre, Rex, in fact far from it. I love hip hop, but only when it's good. And these choices here, are NOT GOOD. It's a shame that what people are saying is true though, these are the songs that have been really popular this past year. I am disappointed in both the major record labels and the general public for listening to this shit. Oh well, give the kids what they want I guess.

There is a few artists that are out of that like Linkin Park. No wait never mind. That's about it. But "What I've Done" is on pop charts. They have harder songs than that.
