ABC, Naked Eyes, Human League, Dead Or Alive, Flock Of Seagulls Join Most '80s Tour Ever
M83's Saturday = Youth, especially the John Hughes-y "Graveyard Girl" video, has the '80s very much at the front of our minds. But, like, the '80s when it was the '80s. Milking nostalgia in a far wrinklier way, this summer's Regeneration Tour pairs together beyond-their-prime '80s icons the Human League, Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Dead Or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls, and Naked Eyes for a month-long tour (which opens 8/1 in Phoenix). Billboard uses the word "inaugural," which makes it sound like it's the first in a series of shows. If that's the case, this should get more awkward with each passing year...

Ticket prices for the month-long U.S. trek, which wraps Aug. 29 at the Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta, range between $20 and $75. Tickets have already gone on sale in Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Diego, with the remaining on-sale dates to roll out in the next four weeks...
Live Nation will produce the majority of dates on the trek, according to Red Entertainment Agency's Rick Shoor, who booked this year's Regeneration Tour. Shoor recently returned to the agency business, and his history dates back to the FBI Agency, where he booked numerous new wave and punk acts during the 1980s.
Shoor tells Billboard.com that the concept for the Regeneration Tour came from shopping at his favorite music retailers. "I was hearing all these '80s hits played in the stores I shopped in every week, so I thought putting a great hits package together could be a cool thing for the summer touring season," he recalls.
Sounds like a pretty solid reason for organizing the thing. For Shoor. One thing to note, Dead or Alive remain on the tour until 8/11. A Flock Of Seagulls jump on 8/13. Speaking of DoA, do you know what Pete Burns looks like these days? Donatella Versace!

it's sad to see heroes of mine play these nostalgia games... i just couldn't bear seeing this sort of thing. human league and abc would be the ones i would go for, but their not even in their original incarnations. ah well.
still dj max, if you put on some pre-dare human league, or even further back into their the future incarnation, it would mop the respective floor with most of the sad shite copping their sound out today.

Naked Eyes? Not to pass the Haterade, but they had one hit, and THAT was a cover. I saw The English Beat recently with only one original member (Dave Wakeling). It ended up being a fun show, so you never know...

The Human League are simply great live, they have a 30 year history and have hits from the 70s to the 00s. Oakey sounds better than most vocalists of today and the girls Sulley and Catherall might be 45 but they are still sexy as hell. Check out www.susanne-sulley.net to see what I mean
