Air's Moon Safari Turns Ten Next Week
In our constant attempt to make folks feel old, we thought we'd mention that not only is 2008 the year NMH's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea reached the decade mark, but on 4/14 (4/15 in North America, bub), Air's Moon Safari makes it into double digits, too. The French duo, or more likely their label, have set up a special site to honor the milestone. Right now it's basically an advert for the 2-disc, 1-DVD 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the album, but we're hoping some more content goes up on the actual birthday. Some possible clues: There's an atomic counter set up at the band's MySpace and three weeks ago someone set up an official Air channel at YouTube. Nicolas and Jean-Benoît, we're waiting.

Does it come with 2 hits of Ecstasy?

The strangest part about this post to me is that those two albums came out the same year. I didn't become immersed in the NMH world until a couple years ago, and hate myself for having missed them back in 98. But to think I WAS listening to Moon Safari instead of NMH in '98 really puts it all in perspective.

Thanks for making me feel old Stereogum!! This has to be one of my favorite albums. Moon Safari is one of those albums you can put on and just drift away. Its nice to see an expanded release as my copy is beat up.

Anyone remember that old mtv commercial that featured "Sexy Boy" or is that just me?

"Sexy Boy" was also used in a scene from the movie "10 Things I Hate About You."
I always preferred Zero 7's first release "Simple Things" to "Moon Safari"

so the average stereogum reader was what? 3 when this came out?
this is one of my favorite albums ever. i hope this means they tour again soon... but don't play the damn theater at MSG again.

yeah, I remember the MTV commercial that used "Sexy Boy". MTV would always do crap like that, they would never play the video, but they will use the music for a commercial or background music to some Real World meets Road Rules garbage. Although I did see "Sexy Boy" and "Kelly Watch the Stars" on AMP and 120 minutes.

wow... Sirrockaby. you just took it back w/ AMP. That makes me want to dig up my Roni Size album!

…nostalgically reminiscing the discovery that those were not women singing on sexy boy, but rather girly french men. oh it was glorious.
