Dan Deacon's Bromst Album Art

thubmnail icon: Dan Deacon's Bromst Album Art

Mr. Deacon's forthcoming Bromst LP landed in our list of 20 albums we're most excited for in 2009, a placement based on Spiderman Of The Rings' screwball electro-adrenaline rush as much as the promise of a thematic and aesthetic shift for its followup. We saw the unveiling of his new incarnation, complete with 14-piece ensemble, in Brooklyn recently. Dan was joined by members of So Percussion, with an end result (so) percussion and electro heavy: the bulk of Deacon's congregation holding mallets/sticks or lined up behind an array of synths. The Bromst stuff offered hip-hop glints with scratched vocal-samples in the mix and deeper, more deliberate dance beats than Spiderman, while retaining some of the album's quirk and whimsy at its core. This album cover is very true to that.

Shady forest with a electric blue tent at its nucleus? Looks like Bromst sounds. The album's out 3/24 via Carpark.

I guess...
Department of Eagle's In Ear Park strikes me as more similar, however.

When did Deacon turn from looking like a Magic:The Gathering fanatic into a member of Fleet Foxes?

I am originally from Baltimore, and it saddens me that this is the guy people think of when they think of music in my hometown. Honestly, his novelty act is already far too old.

Dear Dan,
Please stop.
Kindest regards,
michael

Dan Deacon is weak sauce, and this album art is a blatant rip off of Department of Eagles album cover. Amelia Bauer's site is pretty amazing actually.

Mr. Deacon hates Amelia Bauer, hates Department of Eagles, hates Phish, despises all his peers. He's just out to make fun of everybody and make song and album covers that just make fun. Well, you know what, Deacon, you can shove it hard up your backside, all that BS you put into this world, all that hate you think is fun, it's not fun, it's disgusting and I'm disgusted by you. You are a sick man.

You know what? I give up. Dan Deacon is a really bad guy and his art team are bad people. That's all I have to say. This issue is at rest for me. totally at rest.

He is a classic example of what happens when ugly people get a taste of fame. They have all this pent up anger at being called ugly and they turn into the meanest bitchiest creatures in the world. ANother prime example: bradford cox

I thought I could walk away from this, but I just can't let this go. You know what, I'm hurt by this kind of fun-making travesty. Deacon, you have hurt people, and I just wanna know, how can you sleep at night? Because you're not a good person. You and your idiot team of art directors are half-assed fun-makers who's only goal in life is to hurt others. Well, you've hurt me for sure, but most of all, you're hurting yourselves. If you were looking for an enemy, buddy, you've got one, you've got one, yes sirree, you do. You have messed with the wrong sleeping dog, buddy, you have ruined my WHOLE DAY DEACON, YOU HAVE RUINED MY WHOLE DAY AND I AM FILLED WITH HATE AND FILLED WITH RAGE BECAUSE YOU ARE SO SO SO LOW YOU ARE SO FILTHY AND LOW AND YOU HAVE REALLY REALLY STOOPED YOU FILTHY LOWLY BASTARD AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK. NOBODY WILL BUY THIS FILTHY RECORD. (Just my opinion, though.)

Dan Deacon is a cutting edge, avauntguard artist. I saw him at The Getty in LA last summer and he was fantastic, despite his filthy 'white' cut-off jean shorts. I look forward to his next album, for sure.

Dan Deacon's new album is even better than the "Get Older" track that can be found online now - we heard a preview of it in Baltimore before the live instrument show. It's actually kind of challenging at first - it lies in a valley between atmospheric and dancey that is at first uncomfortable, but on repeated listening is hypnotic, transcendent, addictive, and, of course, fun...

this will be the album and tour of 2009. As far as Dan Deacon is concerned, he is the nicest, most fun musician I've ever met. For making "avant-garde" electronic music, he sure as hell is down to earth and unpretensious. I like that he integrates crowd and isn't making music for a bunch of cliquey buttheads trying to figure out what new image they'll spend their trustfund on. He rules and will make an impact for years to come unlike many bands who get mentioned in a blog once then forgotten about.

and he tours non-stop so it makes sense that he's developed a little beardage.
