Dirty Projectors Announce Tour, Limited Edition Cassette

thubmnail icon: Dirty Projectors Announce Tour, Limited Edition Cassette

From Dark Was The Night Live and dueting with David Byrne to Friday's show with Björk, this is a big week for Dirty Projectors. It's just gotten more sizable with the announcement that there'll be a limited-edition cassette version of their excellent fifth album Bitte Orca (old people are excited, young people are wondering what the fuck a cassette is). That, and the band's supplementing their supporting tour with TV On The Radio (maybe it should be the other way around) with a 12-city headlining tour that launches June 17th in Philadelphia at the First Unitarian Church. Details, including the cassette cover art.

Or see this for sequence:

Side A
01 "Cannibal Resource"
02 "Temecula Sunrise"
03 "The Bride"
04 "Stillness Is The Move"
05 "Two Doves"

Side B
01 "Useful Chamber"
02 "No Intention"
03 "Remade Horizon"
04 "Fluorescent Half Dome"

It's only available via Domino's website. If you take the plunge, Dennis Callaci, you won't be purely analog: Said cassette and, yes, the LP, include codes for MP3 downloads (320kbps). Bitte Orca is out 6/9 via Domino. Start your cassette and etc. pre-ordering now. You can also check your calendar. The shows without TV On The Radio are part of the headlining tour:

Does anyone have the lyrics to "Stillness Is The Move"?

This is my best guess:

When the child was just a child
It did not know what it was
Like a child it had no habits
No opinions about anything

Maybe I will get a job
Get a job as a waitress
Maybe waiting tables in a diner
In some remote city down the highway

After all that we've been through
I know we'll make it another way
The question is it true
There is nothing we can't do
I see you along the way baby
The stillness is the move

On top of every mountain
There was a great longing
For another even higher mountain
In each city longing for a bigger city

After all that we've been through
I know that I will always love you
From now until forever baby
I can't imagine anything better

(chorus)

Isn't life under the sun just a crazy dream?
Isn't life just some mirage of the world before the world?
Why am I here and not over there?
Where did time begin where does (something???) where do you and I begin?

making a tape of your new album in 2009 is so quirky!

Mediocre group, mediocre music. Why give them attention. Cassettes suck.

Big Red

Man, every time I think about bitching about Columbus, I make myself stop: Dirty Projectors and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are hardly doing any gigs in the US, and we get 'em both.

So where do I buy the tickets?

cassette's? why? they wear out, sound terrible and no one has a cassette deck.

i threw out my Onkyo (Double Deck, Hi-Speed Bouncing, Digital Metered) tape deck about 3 years ago... I mean I could've sold it on eBay for $10 but they wouldn't pay the shipping!

cassettes can sound rad, it's an analog format, it has it's own aesthetic qualities. i bet it sounds really punchy. tough part is finding a cassette player! i gave my walkmen away in 96.

thrift stores are swarming with them....along with a bin of cassettes where you can find music you forgot you loved (yes, i mean actual good music and not huey lewis and the news-sports)

Now I like me some Dirty Projectors, but their supporting tour of TV On The Radio should not be the other way around. Even if TVOTR is just Wavves and some black guys.

Great now if I want to see TV on the Radio I have to see this shitty, over rated, dead technology adopting, misplaced critical darling, lame as a mule, innovative as a dead horse, weak as hell, bull shit.

Oh by the way, I don't like the Dirty Projectors.

It's okay, just turn away from the band and cry and make angry faces while they play so people know you're not enjoying it. Or you know, turn up a bit late so you don't have to watch the opener.

sounds like someone likes Peter Handke, - as some of those lyrics are pulled from Wim Wender's, "Wing's of Desire."

go see it!
