Metallica Reveal Death Magnetic Cover, Claim We're All Gonna Die Someday

thubmnail icon: Metallica Reveal Death Magnetic Cover, Claim We're All Gonna Die Someday

Earlier this week, we heard Metallica's new Rick Rubin-produced album will be available for Guitar Hero III the same day it hits stores. If you wanna know what it sounds like, try Google cache. The unpublishing of Death Magnetic buzz is suspect, but Dave and Chris will be first in line for it anyway. Blabbermouth gives us the first look at the album cover...

Here's James Hetfield talking to talking to VG TV about the album title.

"'Death Magnetic', at least the title, to me, it's... It had something to do with... It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically -- rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death... some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about -- no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point. So that's kind of the subject matter."

An special "coffin box" of the album will come with demos, a DVD, a t-shirt, guitar picks, a poster, and a flag. So screw you Internet.

At other messageboards, they've already observed that the album art looks a little bit like a vag.

you online wits seem to think that st. anger is terrible, but tell me: have you ever been lost in an alleyway in a huge city, and suddenly you're attacked and knifed in the gut by a drooling, bloody leper?

Here, I am doing an impersonation of a metal fan on a music posting board:
"Fag, Gay, Homo, White sucks, Slayer, everything sucks except for what I listen to, sellout, 1985, drop C, progressive, free music downloads, underground". That about sums up everything these tools have to say.

Wow, I'll go ahead and jot that one down in the Stereotype Handbook. Wait 'a be, sweet "grouping everyone together" skills there.

Here, I am doing an impersonation of everybody on the Stereogum board....
'Douchebag, phony hipster, Brooklyn, Radiohead, Weezer, everything sucks except what I listen to, 1994, Sonic Youth sellout because they have a greatest hits at a Starbucks, sad sack acoustic crybaby bullshit rules, angular, music downloads, hype sucks, I think Thom Yorke would look good in a tanktop and shorts, if you don't like what the indie sheep like you suck..' That about sums up everything these tools have to say. (maybe not the Thom Yorke in shorts thing).

"An special "coffin box" of the album will come with demos..."

Shouldn't that be "A special coffin Box edition of the album..." instead of "An special coffin Box of the album"?
