Jukebox: New Cat Power Album Art & Tracklist

Recorded in Dallas, Miami, and New York with the Dirty Delta Blues and Stuart Sikes, Cat Power's Jukebox -- due out at the end of January -- picks up where The Covers Record left off, with Chan Marshall lodging ten new interpretations of other folks' music, along with a new version of her "Metal Heart" and a newbie "Song To Bobby." Impressive tracklist and psychedelic album art after the jump.

01 Theme From "New York, New York" (Frank Sinatra)
02 "Metal Heart" (Cat Power)
03 "Ramblin’ (Wo)man" (Hank Williams)
04 "Song To Bobby" (Cat Power)
05 "Aretha, Sing One For Me" (George Jackson)
06 "Lost Someone" (James Brown)
07 "I Believe In You" (Bob Dylan)
08 "Fortunate Son" (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
09 "Silver Stallion" (Lee Clayton)
10 "Dark End Of The Street" (Dan Penn & Chips Morman; originally sung by James Carr)
11 "Don’t Explain" (Billie Holiday)
12 "Woman Left Lonely" (Janis Joplin)

Talk about taking on the biggies. Very excited for Joplin and some CCR, but all have us kinda goose pimply. As far as the artwork ... how's about this lovin' spoonful of retro goodness?

Jukebox is out 1/22 on Matador.

i'm with you guys on the album art being lame, but i'm definitely interested to hear her do CCR and James Brown.

Was really hoping her cover of Cat Stevens "How Can I Tell You" would make it on to this album. Bummer.

Saw her in Carborro last night, totally sucked. She dragged out every syllable in a strained approximation of what a soul singer should sound like. Her excessively coiffed keyboard player called her the "greatest soul singer alive"... Straight garbage.

saw her last night and her guitarist introduced her as "one of the greatest soul singers alive today"--or something to that effect. Can't say that after her performance i would agree. very unimpressive show.

some of you clowns may think she's passe now that she's no longer the subject of your indie boi wankerings, but you have to admit she deserves credit for evolving and putting out legit work in her new form. She's not my betrothed or anything but I enjoyed Greatest; I hope she continues to challenge because those who don't become crap.

Dont know what you guys are smoking..but I thought she was dead on last night..her throat was sore a little but damned if she didnt give it her all & her band is totally ace.
You guys should be forced to see a Cat Power show from 5 years ago when she couldnt finish a song & her hair was covering her face & everything was played at 1/2 speed..

I look forward to it. "The Greatest" was her best. Hopefully the trend towards goodness will continue. Love me some Chan.

I'm so fucking pumped to hear her cover of "Dark End of the Street." One of the greatest soul songs ever, and I officially think less of everyone here for not noticing it. That said, Cat Power is a trin wreck and the rest of the album will suck.

i like it. i can't wait to buy it on cd and vinyl.

she deserves a j. lo esque cover, she's a bit of a diva - but the right kind of diva...

i don't know, i think she's fabulous. she can do no wrong.
