New TV On The Radio - "Golden Age" & Dear Science, Album Art

Your Tuesday afternoon just got 100% more great. "Golden Age" is the first listen from TV On The Radio's forthcoming return from Cookie Mountain, titled Dear Science, (comma included, thinking its epistolary). It will probably make you dance. Don't be fooled by the dry tones on the "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" bass groovy intro, things do open up -- not quite in the same way they perfected last time out, it's a slightly modified mix coming from Sitek: horns and strings, synths and handclaps, polyrhythm in the pulse, vocals melting all over the horizon. Tunde (Oops, it's Kyp) is pitching "a golden age, coming around." (I definitely hear Celebration's Katrina Ford in there, too.) Pretty triumphant, guys. Have a listen at tvontheradio.com. Yes, that is Kyp shirtless and afroless.
Dear Science, is, out, 9/23, via, Interscope. Here's your cover:

Classy. But no comma? "Golden Age" is track five, which means it isn't even the best intro to the album, which means "Halfway Home" now please.

Nice cover I guess. But I prefer that group shot better.
Score = 5
Wow, this track is funky. Totally unexpected, but oh so satisfying.
Score = 2
Thanks for making my already great Tuesday twice as awesome. I didn't even know they had a new album coming out soon, so I'm pretty psyched.

feeling the soul/funk -- but i gotta say...is this a danger mouse joint?! this song would fit nicely on Modern Guilt...or maybe The Information...wait what am i saying? is this new Bon Iver?
just kidding? either way this is so good.
Score = -2
There is a total "Thriller" vibe in the bass line.
Can't wait to hear the rest

That's a pretty awesome chorus right there
Score = 0
sounds great...maybe they can step up thier live performances this tour...

Are you joking about the comma? They don't use it on the album cover....
Score = 0
They got rid of it apparently! I miss the comma/I give a fuck about a comma.
Score = 4
In order to complete the VW reference, you need Oxford thrown in there, but that kinda invalidates the pun... perhaps "I give a fuck about a TOTR comma" would be more functional.

So, this raises the question of whether TV on the Radio were secretly Beck's back-up band on Midnite Vultures
Score = 4
Pardon me, but just how many black people are in TVOTR?
Score = -13
Does it make it make your nipples hard to hear TVOTR toss your early 80s tunes through a blender, Bowie?
Just kidding, this is a great track. Glad they are comfortable enough in their own skin to mix it up a bit without feeling the need to completely reinvent their sound.
Who else can say "move your body" and have it sound like a cliché??
Score = 4
I cannot fucking wait...

Got my tix for the Chicago show... This song is jams, and I could not be more pumped. You know this is going to be "the single" and everything else is going to sound like robots chewing bubble gum in space.
Thought #2: This sounds like Beck covering "The National Anthem" from Kid A.

i LOVE this new TVOTR song...LOVE IT....

?WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK, WILL THIS BE TVOTR'S "BREAKTHROUGH" ALBUM? AND BEGIN TO SUPPLY GOOD MUSIC TO THE MAINSTREAM, BECAUSE IT SURE SEEMS LIKE THATS THE ATTEMPT WITH "GOLDEN AGE"
