Peter Bjorn & John's Living Thing Album Art

thumbnail icon: Peter Bjorn & John's Living Thing Album Art

When posting about the the Golden Filter's remix of "Lay It Down," I surmised that through that song's "shut the fuck up boy" and "Nothing To Worry About"'s warped take on Justice kids choruses, it felt like Peter Bjorn & John were looking for Living Thing to push them past the sunniness of "Young Folks"' twee anthemics to something darker. Cue dark album art, featuring non-living things (antelope and other horned trophies) in a blue-hued hand-drawn den. If you look closely, it's not shading covering the decor, it's words ("wall," "trophy," "drawer," "cabinet," etc.).

You can actually get the best close-up of the image at their MySpace. Living Thing is out 3/30 in the UK via Wichita and 3/31 in the US via Almost Gold Recordings/StarTime International. Then they tour:

04/22 - Milwaulkee, WI @ Pabst Theatre
04/23 - Chicago, IL @ Metro
04/24 - Newport, KY @ Southgate House
04/25 - Toronto, Ontario @ Phoenix Theatre
04/26 - Ottowa, Ontario @ Capital Music Hall

Whoa, I see concept!

How about tight crop an one of the animal heads and save the full illustration for an interior booklet page or the tray (not that anyone really buys cds anymore).

hmm, odd comments. I actually hate this album art. Doesnt mean i wont like the album, actually have high hopes for it. it reminds me a lot of AC Newmans awful cover art with. And now the new Decemberists album art is out and its crap. whats up bands? Atleast Beiruts March of The Zapotec has a cool album cover.

I actually like that a lot. Did anyone else immediately think of The Invisibles and the whole words represent objects/Key 23 thing?...Okay, cool, I'm the only one.

The "N" is a little crooked in Bjorn ... unbelievable.
