Flight Of The Conchords Get Freaky

thubmnail icon: Flight Of The Conchords Get Freaky

Now that the new tunes have been sufficiently road and TV tested, Sub Pop's most intentionally laughable musical artists are set to release their sophomore LP, I Told You I Was Freaky. You'll recognize three tunes from the show -- "Rambling Through the Avenues of Time," "Too Many Dicks (On the Dance Floor)," and "You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute"" -- and if you've been seeing 'em live, you know that "Sugalumps" is basically a response to "My Humps." Except about balls. We don't have too much more to go on for now, but FOTC are the sort of act for which the track titles and album art alone are a decent start:

01 "Hurt Feelings"
02 "Sugalumps"
03 "We're Both In Love With A Sexy Lady"
04 "I Told You I Was Freaky"
05 "Demon Woman"
06 "Rambling Through the Avenues of Time"
07 "Fashion Is Danger"
08 "Petrov, Yelyena and Me"
09 "Too Many Dicks (On the Dance Floor)"
10 "You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute"
11 "Friends"
12 "Carol Brown"
13 "Angels"

Flight Of The Conchords - "Sugalumps" (MP3)

I Told You I Was Freaky is out 10/20 via Sub Pop.

I'm a bit disappointed that the album is almost entirely made up of the songs they released on itunes after the season 2 episodes aired

"Sugalumps" was also on the show. Aren't most or all of these from the second season?

I believe so because the title track was also on the show

they're all from the second season of the show. Rhys Darby even co-sings Hurt Feelings, and Kristen Schaal has vocals on Petrov, Yelyena and Me. "We're Both In Love With A Sexy Lady" is the song about Kristen Wiig's 'Brahbrah'.

Well, they gotta find a new thing, since the series is over and all.

No it's not. Not officially. I fully expect a third season after a couple year break, a la Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Maybe, but as of right now, Bret and Jemaine say that the second season was the last.

The first album featured re-recorded "studio" versions of the show's songs. "Bowie" in particular sounded quite different on the album than in its episode (containing an outro similar to their concert version).

But as pointed out above, Bret and Jemaine have already released iTunes versions of (I think) all of these songs. I can't imagine the album version sounding any different than what I've already purchased.

Still it's nice to have an album!

I wish they had done "Jenny" for the show or the album...it never fails to make me laugh.
