New Goldfrapp - "A&E" (And Seventh Tree Album Art)
The new Goldfrapp tune would fit well in some Paul Thomas Anderson flick, maybe connecting all the forlorn characters a la "Wise Up," only on a bright blue Saturday, not such a rainy work night. It's pretty and straightforward and sentimental and has a poppy crescendo -- the kind of thing it's not hard to imagine blasting out of any number of demographically different radios. On it, Alison sings about pill-induced missing, crawling out the door, dancing on the floor. Her sped-up pop-as-heck trill reminds us somehow of old-school Nelly Furtado (seriously) and then there's the final lighter-raising finale that'd make Kylie weep. A+E is 'accident and emergency' in UK hospital.
This one is seemingly about a suicide attempt. Quite sad.
Once you get the lyrics it changes your whole idea of it.

I love the release date. I listen to Felt Mountain in the winter or when hiking on a mountain. Black Cherry when driving late at night. Supernature when I’m getting dressed for a party. Now I can listen to Seventh Tree on a lazy Sunday.

I agree with Mark, Eat Yourself is the best track. Followed by Clowns. What she is singing about, I have no idea but what a brave and beautiful track to begin the album with!

A&E is about a car accident, at least I'm pretty sure that's what it's about. "How did I get to accident and emergency/all I wanted was you to take me out"
I think it's a very good album. I don't really like "Eat Yourself" though. I know a lot of it has been done before and... well Goldfrapp isn't always the most original, but it's an enjoyable listen.

Yes, the pirate and clown images are strange, but Alison is known for being rather eccentric.. Either way, go to their website and listen to "Clowns", which is playing as the page music. Very beautiful and very different from A&E.

Eat Yourself and Clowns are the most original songs on the album in my opinion
All the others could be sung by anyone else and no one would bother to realise/care
Can't say i like Clowns as much as i did before i heard the lyrics, it's still fantastic though
And Eat Yourself is amazing
Shame they had to make the rest of the album more commercial and ... shit
I'm a hardcore Felt Mountain fan, and i'll always be
Nothing will ever come close to that album
