New Suzanne Vega - "Frank & Ava"
Where ya been, Suzanne? The songwriter behind the world's first perfected MP3 will release Beauty & Crime this July, her first album of original material since Songs In Red And Gray in '01. On first listen of the album's lead single "Frank & Ava" we thought the verse melody recalled "Turn A Square." Maybe that's just 'cause we heard French Shins this morning. Take a listen at her site. That's KT Tunstall on background vox in the chorus. Here's what the CD will look like when you get in your car and drive to the record store to buy it (just pretend), styled up in Frank & Ava's heyday.

Tracklist after the jump.
01 "Zephyr & I"
02 "Ludlow Street"
03 "New York Is A Woman"
04 "Pornographer's Dream"
05 "Frank & Ava"
06 "Edith Wharton's Figurines"
07 "Bound"
08 "Unbound"
09 "As You Are Now"
10 "Angel's Doorway"
11 "Anniversary"
Beauty & Crime is out 7/17 on Blue Note.

I really like the CD 99.9 degrees. It's one of the seven CDs that my mother swears by, so I heard it a lot growing up. Some of her lyrics on that album are amazing, and it has some pretty impressive production from Mitchell Froom.
How old is she now like 45? She is looking damn good on that cover, that's for sure.

Did you ever hear Self's cover of "Fat Man And Dancing Girl"?

According to Wikipedia she's 47, and yes she still looks great. I saw her a few weeks ago.

Laura Viers wishes she sounded this good or wrote this well.
