All Apologies, Courtney Goes To Court

Seven months after accidentally clubbing a clubgoer with her mic at Plaid, Courtney Love has pled guilty to disorderly conduct. (Also, her "gynecological condition" is all better ... thanks for asking!)

AP reports that the judge will seal her case after a year if Love pays the victim $2,336 (apparently the cost of head staples) and joins a drug treatment program. If Courtney violates these terms, she'll be jarring prison-yard crabapple jam with Martha Stewart.

Court's post-court comments: "I just wanted it to be over. I played a rock show. I didn't do anything. I wasn't on drugs. Playing a rock show had nothing to do with drugs."

She was totally on drugs, as anyone who watched her Letterman appearance could tell you. Here is my photo blog entry from that wacky night.

Someone recently told me that in his final months Kurt Cobain wrote songs in the closet (with the lights out?) so Courtney couldn't hear/steal them. I doubt it's true, but it's a great rumor.

With The Lights Out, the looong-awaited Nirvana box set, is out 11/23. It will contain 3 CDs (81 tracks of demos, alternative versions, radio sessions, etc..) and a DVD. It also has an official site: nirvanabox.com.

Here's an old Nirvana song called "Smells Like Te....

C'MON, y'all know Stereogum better than that! For reals now, here's two left-field covers of "All Apologies."

Herbie Hancock - "All Apologies"

About those "secret from Courtney demos": as for what is factually known, Kurt did record in his closet at times and Courtney says she asked him for the riff to "Heart-Shaped Box" as he was first writing it (and she also reported that his response was, quite fittingly, "Fuck off!"). Whether or not he was doing it to avoid Courtney, I don't think anybody knows. It is, however, a widely believed rumor that Kurt recorded some home demos in his basement in March of 1994...less than 30 days before his death. Considering the box set promises some Kurt home demos and a 60+ page booklet, I'm sure some light will be shed on this in due time.

Also on the matter of Courtney stealing Kurt's songs: I don't know what to say about the rumors of Kurt writing the music to Live Through This, but I do know that Love vehemently laid claim to a b-side from that era, "Old Age," which fans mentioned sounded awfully Nirvanaesque (except for the lyrics). And sure enough, a few months later, Nirvana's "Old Age" (an outtake from the Nevermind session, two years before Hole did it) was surfaced by an anonymous donor to some Seattle newspaper (albeit only a very fuzzy short clip...although it's unmistakably Nirvana).

Sorry I wrote a lot. I'm just getting excited about this box. Delayed since 1997!

She is such a nasty hag. I feel so, so sorry for her child. Can you imagine having that train wreck for a mother?

I feel sorry for the person who had 'head staples' put in.
I don't think a couple of thousand dollars makes up for that kind of thing. A head injury. Damn.

Did Ms.Love even apologise? Show remorse for real?
Wondering if she did?
I'd be doing as much as possible to help out someone
I'd hurt like that. Guess they figure insurance will deal with it. But shit that isn't enough.

I just watched a very young pre plastic surgery Courtney in "Sid and Nancy" the other day and I have to say that she looked fine, she was kind of cute in a punk rock girl sort of way.

The way she looks now in terms of her plastic surgery she is heading down the Jacko/Jocelyn Wildenstein plastic surgery route.

I love how she keeps denying using drugs...completely ignoring the fact that if drugs aren't at fault for her erratic behavior, it must mean that she's completely and clinically insane. I can't wait to never hear from her again. What a waste. All this desparate fawning to stay in the spotlight is truly pathetic. She is no longer relevant to music or culture, except as a warning to kids to stay off drugs lest they become an ex-millionaire bag-lady with severe mental problems.

Nob,

I wasn't saying that the story of Sid and Nancy was cute. I was saying that a very young pre plastic surgery Courtney who has a small roll in the movie, looked fine before she made herself look like a transexual with all the plastic surgery she has gotten within last couple of years. She was kind of cute in a 80's punk rock girl sort of way.

When Courtney says "I'm off drugs" she is referring specifically to non-prescription drugs. Pills from Dr. Feelgood are just dandy.
