defamer debunked this as pure fiction. i mean, it's a nice idea, but the dates aren't even lined up yet. And I've heard from some label folks that some of their bands on the list are unconfirmed while others that have confirmed aren't on the list.

so while a few of these probably will end up there next year, I wouldn't be surprised at all when this list is totally different come may.

later.

hey scott:

first off- love the recent updates. pamplemousse used to be my favorite word i learned in french class back during our creole / new orleans unit back in high school haha...anyway...

awesome. i'll believe it when i see it hehe jenny lewis did confirm rilo kiley's being in it to billboard when she talked about her solo album last week...but i hope all of these bands and more sign on, too! NME says david bowie, franz ferdinand and coldplay are rumored, too.

check the article i wrote today about it for Filter:

the weird thing about that list is there's a couple of repeat bands from this year's coachella, which doesn't make alot of sense.

i mean, i would never want to believe that a concert promoter would be nice and give somebody like the moving units a better time slot since they had the misfornate as playing the same time as the pixies.

if this line up is a sorta accurate, i just don't see 50,000 kids standing out in the sun for 7 hours just to see tears for fears and cake.

Tears For Fears -> This is obv the only one which has confirmed.

Badly Drawn Boy -> Hey, is he still making music?

BowieNet says "Event organizers tell Billboard.com the rumored bill is not correct, and that offers have only recently began going out to prospective bands. What's more, the exact date of the 2005 show will not even be confirmed for another month or so, according to Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett, whose company promotes Coachella."

michael jackson should headline coachella...now that's ironic entertainment for the masses of cool kids...

Ha, that'd be great - aging goth day 1, aging indie day 2.

I can't imagine that ANYONE would hire Coldplay and not make them the headliner. Coldplay is vastly more popular than NIN and present-day Bowie. Coldplay is the biggest band on either bill, unless you count Bowie and REM's past glories.

Helloooo??? Where's Living Color? Where's Transvision Vamp?? This lineup sucks!! I'm not going unless they add Arrested Development to the bill.

I'm surprised to see Nine Inch Nails too. All the same, no one would ask David Bowie or PJ Harvey to open for Coldplay. They're overrated.

The guy who started the rumor admitted to the hoax awhile back, but the moderators of the Coachella message board deleted those threads.

I like comments... dont get enough ;) but I like them. I like interacting with the person, it used to be chat rooms, but blogs are starting to be a better forum (in my opinion) as a lot of local chats close and others go to pay only sites... it seems that blogging is a way forward for those of us who are constantly at the computer and thinking, also because it braodens our views - of the world, politics, church, theology.. you name it there is a blog on every topic. Anyhow, I like your blog here, its informative and has made me look around and read other blogs too :)
Blessings.
