Animal Collective Announce Early Vinyl Release, More Listening Parties

thubmnail icon: Animal Collective Announce Early Vinyl Release, More Listening Parties

Merriweather Post Pavilion's still on track for an official digital release on January 20th, and an unofficial piecemeal web release in the weeks prior, but impatient fans of legitimate music acquisition will want to know this: Animal Collective's making their forthcoming ninth album available two weeks early (1/6) in North America, on deluxe 2xLP 180 gram gatefold vinyl. That includes a full album download in the format of your choice (MP3 or WAV) on 1/20. And if that's still not soon enough for you, that's probably because you've probably heard "My Girls" and "Brothersport." AC feel your pain, and have selected a few cities for listening parties in early January. Here's the list:

Anchorage, AK - KRUA Presents*
Austin, TX - End Of And Ear Records & KVRX - Jan. 3 @ 6PM
Boston, MA - WZBC Presents*
Chicago - WHPK presents*
Eugene, OR - KWVA Presents*
Lawrence, KS - Love Garden Sounds & KJHK - Jan. 6th
Los Angeles, CA - Fingerprints Records & KXLU - Jan. 6th
Miami, FL - WRGP Presents*
Minneapolis, MN - KUOM Presents*
New York, NY - Other Music Presents - Jan. 5th
Philadelphia, PA - WXPN Presents*
Portland, OR - Music Millennium - Jan. 3 @ 6PM
Raleigh, NC - WKNC Presents*
San Francisco, CA - Terrorbird Presents @ The Knockout - Jan. 6th, 7-10pm**
Santa Cruz, CA - KZSC Presents*
Seattle, WA - KUPS Presents*
St. Louis - Vintage Vinyl & KDHX - Jan. 6th
Vancouver, BC - CFUV presents*

*Location & Date TBA
** w/ Maus Haus, French Miami

Domino promises each party will be a little different, with posters and ticket giveaways and other things to let you know they still love you. Also that list of cities will grow, including listening events in Atlanta, Boulder, Milwaukee, Nashville, Salt Lake City, San Diego, etc. Keep refreshing the Animal Collective site for specifics on those as they're available.

RELATED: Animal Collective apologize to Grizzly Bear for Grizzly Bear having to apologize to Animal Collective.

ALSO RELATED: Animal Collective collectively, and Panda Bear individually, are playing sets at ATP NY '09 (now with Flaming Lips as curators).

ONE MORE THING RELATED: So, nice promo shot but the question remains: where's Deakin?

Yo, lookie-here. You can buy the vinyl on Domino's site for $22.99. It apparently comes with a free double-sided poster and a card for downloading the mp3s. They also say you should be able to recieve on the day of release which is the 6th. Hope this helps.

Cheers

So, the album is named after a venue between Baltimore and DC and the closest listening party is Philly? Shucks.
