Animal Collective Remix Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Full Version)

thubmnail icon: Animal Collective Remix Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Full Version)

Last week we got a bite-sized taste of Animal Collective's "Zero" remix. Their version of the It's Blitz! single (and SNL-approved) track shows up as the B-side of a limited-edition 7". If your turntable's broken, though, you can hear it now. Where does it rank with the parade of mostly unnecessary remixes? To date, Erol Alkan's remains the best for cutting rugs. Animal Collective take drugs to make "Zero" to take drugs to, aka it's a tripped-out under(bong)water dub-fest with pitch shifted vocals and lots of space. In other words, not so surprising. What is surprising is that it feels a bit lazy.

(Via GvB)

To bad it had to fit on the side of a 7" -- would've been nice to hear this pulse for another few minutes.

It's Blitz is out via Interscope. The "Zero" 7" is available as a limited-edition bonus at Insound.

They should've futz'd around with Karen O's vocals a little more. When they're demonstrated as bare as they are here, they come off as uninspired and untextured, mainly due to her lyrics which verge on mild corniness. Still it's all a little cool sounding, at least.

They did a nice job, surely better than the other remixes I have heard of this song. As far as changing her voice anymore, I like how the changes were subtle, yet noticeably different in the various pitch changes. The result fits well with the rest of the song and I think anymore changes on it wouldn't have held the same effect.

You are quite welcome, good sir. I only hope I can continue to live up to your expectations in the future

I love it when pretentious asses try to justify a lazy work. Makes them sound even more stupid.

I like both bands, but damn - "lazy" sums it up pretty well.

This is the definition of uninspired.

Wow - way to take the rhythm, soul, coherence and fun out of this song, AC.

This is just terrible. Check out the Nite Cells remix of Heads Will Roll. Best YYYs remix from the new album I've heard.

MSTRKRFT turned Zero into crap as well, so don't feel too bad Animal Collective folk.

Not too bad actually. Could have been better for sure, but I thought the original was pretty bland to begin with. I personally prefer the AC version.

This remix is great. The original song is kinda boring.

Animal Collective don't understand that a good song should take you on an emotional journey from one place to another, and that this is achieved through the use of CHORD CHANGES. What boring, masturbatory bullshit this is.
