Arctic Monkeys Cover Amy Winehouse

Used to be the only things that bound together Amy Winehouse and Arctic Monkeys was excrement (the Monkeys had a potty pilfered while Amy had her mug emblazoned another) -- but now we've got this track to put that toilet humor behind us. Here the Arctic lads attempt to take on Amy's soul-siren song, which seems like an unnecessary endeavor 'til Turner gets to the "troubo-ole" part, where he makes it fit. Actually, still pretty unnecessary, but a fun listen.

Arctic Monkeys - "You Know I'm No Good" (MP3)

RELATED: No matter how shitty you think she is, Amy's cover of the Zutons' "Valerie" is irresistible (still streaming at Ronson's MySpace).

Why the hell are certain people so obsessed with Winehouse, meaning YOU, Stereogum... Why are YOU so obsessed with Winehouse? You post an Amy-related post every day.

One word for you. Just one word.

STOP.

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of an oldy but a goody from the Squirrel Nut Zippers called Blue Angel.

It's eerie

Why on earth would anyone find Amy Winehouse "shitty"? So she has a drink and drugs problem...so what? What does that have to do with the music? She has an incredible voice and her material is excellent. End of.

Here, here John. That's what I've been saying all along. But Pitchfork hates her. Seriously if you don't like Amy Winehouse you probably don't know or like soul music that much either. Screw Joss Stone and many other r and b singers. Amy is where it's at, even if she is a mess.

Oh, ´cmon... Amy haters are all over. Even tough she has an amazing voice, not everyone will like her music. Amy´s cool and so are Steregum kids. Great post. Your sense of humour is a killer!

i think the valerie cover would be ten times better if someone else sang it. i was listening to the ronson cd and this track came on and i was trying to figure out who that HORRIBLE singer was...so i glanced at the tracklisting and it all made sense.

amy winehouse is the biggest bitch i have ever met. I can't think of a better spot to promote her than on a shitter.

her entire entourage sucks. i sold her merch for her in Boston and she was the bitchiest, drunkest, whore i have ever met. Oh, and her head is really big.

i have sold merch for hundreds of bands so i know what i'm talking about when i say she is the lamest one of all of them. she couldn't even make it on American Idol.

Whatever. People only hate her so much because she's so popular. If she were still "underground", all the people who talk shit about her now would be all over her.

So she's a drunken, bitchy whore? Her voice is INCREDIBLE, and I listen to music for the music, not for the artist's personal life. SONGS should be not underestimated, and they pretty often are.

This is wayyy old, Stereogum.
Nonetheless, it's really, really good.
Rivals the original in my opinion, which is excellent too.
I personally couldn't care less whether Amy Winehouse is an alcoholic, a drug addict, a prostitute, a priest, it doesn't matter to me as long as she's putting out good music--as it shouldn't.

people will always have something to complain about. i think amy's a breath of fresh air. being a singer myself, i dig her vocals and her songwriting, again i don't like her for her personal life. and lets be honest what amazing musician out there doesn't have a problem whether it be drugs, alcohol, anorexia, etc. they're people just like eveyrone else, they're not perfect. everyone is so judge mental, why don't people just listen to the music anymore. nowadays we're so caught up in celebrities lives, its disgusting we don't even care if they're good musicians or not, and 9 times out of 10 we'll just say they're aren't bc we're jealous that we're not famous. everyone needs to chill.
peace n love
