Ask Not What Linkin Park Can Do for Rick Rubin

Normally, we wouldn't go out of our way for Linkin Park, but we've had our eye on Rick Rubin since he was tapped to produce the new Metallica album (after leading the Dixie Chicks to a sweep at the Grammys, no less). The production on St. Anger was lacking, to put it kindly, and contributed to the most disappointing, if not the worst, Metallica album of all time. So, in the meantime, what is Mr. Rubin doing for Linkin Park, the band behind the best selling LP of 2001? Chester has said that Minutes to Midnight will completely abandon the nu-metal sound of previous albums. And if anyone can save the Parkers from themselves, it's Rubin. But this 30 second clip of new single "What I've Done" sounds like a cross between Trail of Dead and Blink-182. Listen here. Will you give the Bearded One the benefit of the doubt for now?

It appears Rubin was so caught up in getting rid of the nu metal sound that he forgot to get rid of the shittiness of the songwriting, singing and musicianship. Who cares if it's not nu metal if it still sucks?

Rick Rubin = Greatest producer ever. Sure there has been some mistakes along the way but no producer in history (even quincy Jones) has been a part of so many amazing records

"trail of dead? please. how bout afi and a pile of shit. thanks for another pointless post."

wtf is wrong with people like you?

You know what I do if I don't like a post? I close the browser. Don't act all pissed off because a website that is giving you FREE content *gasp* doesn't post something you don't like.

Get over it and get a life.

the new song sucks but this post was entertaining. I'm not a 5 year old and I can look past it.

Wow. Linkin Park makes Kevin Federline, Panic! At The Disco, Hinder, Nickelback, Fergie, Fall Out Boy, and James Blunt all sound like Bob Dylan, Queen, or Bruce Springsteen. That song was so horrible, it would've fit somewhere in A Weekend In The City.

WORST BAND OF ALL TIME. A lot worse than Limp Bizkit, Color Me Badd, Ja Rule, and S Club 7 combined.

I doubt anyone cares what most of you are saying since it is hardly constructive and does not say why the 30 second clip is bad. I suppose you guys are too busy trying to be funny.
