Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears?!?!

Looks like a great line-up. Once again, I don't think Jack Johnson will be missed!
By the way, I'm doing a survey on digital music for a class at MIT. I'm giving $5 free credit on Amie Street to anyone who fills it. Check it out at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=K9zfdPbYagqlxxoUqPWZ6Q_3d_3d

Hey Clayford,
Check out Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears. They are an Austin band from what I understand, but I saw them live and they were electric. Their lead singer sounds like Otis and they have a great horn section. Definitely a throw back band, but they will make you shake your ass.

DAMN! No Ghostland Observatory. :(

I usually hate it when people do this, but I gotta say...serious downgrade from last year, in terms of headliners at least. A lot of good stuff down the list, but I think it was hard to beat last year (Bob Dylan, Bjork, Killers, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys). I love both Led Zeppelin and Alison Krauss, and I dig Raising Sand, but I really dont think Plant & Krauss deserve the #2 spot on that poster...their record is a little downtempo to be a great headliner, no?

Agreed, Tom. 2008 feels like an "off year" — but if this year's fest is boring, next year's fest will probably be twice as good when better bands are touring/releasing new material.
Now I just really, really want to go to Lollapalooza.

Tom,
At least you know you have designated snack time/nap time since CSS, G Love, Yeasyaer and Conor Oberst are playing. Also, does anyone else think it'd be a lot cooler instead of being called Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band he called his band Conor Oberst and The Funky Bunch?

This lineup isn't really doing it for me. There are a lot of great bands that I'd want to see, but it definitely lacks the headliner that the likes of Coachella and Lolla are sporting. I didn't even realize people still gave a fuck about the foo fighters.
And why the fuck is there no my morning jacket or wolf parade at these festivals?

I'm pretty damn excited about this year. Yeah the headliners are a tad bit disappointing, but the depth of the lineup is amazing. C3 covered multiple genres and has some really excellent mid-level bands booked.

So bummed about this lineup...last year's was so amazing and I really expected more from this year's. There are some good bands I want to see, but unfortunately not an a la carte ticket option.
Score = 1
all other bands aside...if you don't have either The Flaming Lips or My Morning Jacket at your festival then you aren't trying hard enough.
what you're too cool to book bands that are automatic crowd pleasers...puhleeze.

the best thing about this is that now we know conor and the mystic valley band is going to do a real tour.

Foo Fighters? What is this? The K-RoCK weeine roast?

gotta agree with the Black Joe Lewis awesomeness. I saw them open for man man and they didn't really go together, but they are alot of fun

it'd be cool to see the foos. see what new material they play. b/c ya know they will be playing lots of new material.

Is it possible to trade in my ACL tickets for Lollapalooza tickets?
Score = 2
I agree with the headliners being a disappointment, don't they usually sign more bands along the way before the festival. Here's to hoping they get one or two more good headliners or semi-headliners. Middle tier of bands are top notch though.

city and color! YES!

With the Foo Fighters, you can expect the "Hot Topic" crowd to overrun that day of the festival. Oh well, I guess it's all the better to get to the bus line early.

Hey Brutus,
Keep patting yourself on the back for being more enlightened than mainstream America. While I'm sure it's fun to scoff at the "Hot Topic" Foo Fighters fans (more like working young professionals, but maybe Austin has a different crowd) perhaps you forget that when a festival doesn't book big headliners (BIG as in sells lots of tickets and can generate crowds, not BIG meaning "cool" blogs talk about said band a lot) people won't show up. Remember when Lollapalooza still thought it could tour around the country in 2004 w/The Flaming Lips headlining? Yeah, it just didn't work. But, by all means, please show up to see the shoe-gazer music you love and leave so everyone else doesn't have to put up with you and your narrow views.

i just want the black keys and hot chip to play aftershows, and i'll be set.

C3 didn't make up the bands at the end of the list. ACL always features a kids stage called Austin Kiddie Limits.
I'm not jumping up and down with joy about the lineup but I still want to go. I've gone every year except the first one.
