Axl Rose Sues Dr. Pepper Get that free Dr. Pepper in all its 23 flavors? Neither did most of the country. Website crashed, phone lines were down, and Axl's lawyers are filing pissed off litigious communications: "In and of itself this campaign brazenly violated our clients' rights in numerous respects. Unfortunately, Dr Pepper has now magnified the damage this campaign has caused through its appalling failure to make good on a promise it made to the American public." Get legally briefed at AdAge.

Shouldn't Axl sue himself for the years of hype that arguably had a larger hand in his poor album sales? I have a hard time believing that Dr. Pepper's trying to add a nail to the record industry's coffin, even if the site crashes and downed phone lines are possibly illegitimate.

Um, he actually hasn't filed suit yet. The letter is just a threat of a suit.
Which they'll file once the sales tank in the second week.

this is ridiculous. even if the promotion didn't work so well (i got mine, heh heh), it's laughable that he uses words like "appalling." they offered a free drink for essentially no reason at all. what's with this sense of entitlement, anyway? i think they're just pissed because people cared more about the dr. pepper than the actual album.

fuck that... i want my dp

Funny. It took me about an hour, but I was able to get through the registration and have Dr.Pepper claim they were going to send me a coupon in 6 weeks that will expire in 7, or something like that. But I found it hillarious that the website never mentioned anything about Guns'n'Roses at all. There was no comment about why they were giving away free soda. It's like they were embarrassed to be associated with it.

axl rose is pretty smart actually. he knows hes not going to make any money on chinese democracy so he gonna make up for the albums earnings by suing dr pepper. brilliant!!

Axl Rose is still around?
Score = -1
"Chinese Democracy" fell short of its sales projections, so I'm assuming that the idiotic "Free Dr. Pepper" partnership also received a less enthusiastic public reception than they expected. This lawsuit seems like an idiotic publicity stunt meant to recharge the public's dwindling interest in that shit album.
