Beck & Tom Waits Talk Irrelevant Topics In addition to covers and DJ projects, Beck's updated website houses "Irrelevant Topics," a section featuring "conversations between musicians, artists, writers ... without promotional pretext or editorial direction." The first's with Tom Waits. The "focus" is California. Eavesdrop.

Max's is now just another one of those deli's with the soups and salad under flourescent lights... it's impossible to imagine Andy and his gang walking even that little distance to get there...nobodies famous like they used to be...

Supposedly that recording was from Lou's last gig with the group...he got picked up by his parents and that was that for the time being...

I liked VU long before I got here...but I never had time for the Airplane until NYC...it was only then that the energy made sense to me...

No definitive song about LA? Are you kidding me? Los Angeles by X isn't an advertisement for the city but it's definitely definitive. They even got an Official Certificate of Recognition from the city because it resonated so much with the people living there.

I didn't really know I was living under such a hotbed till after the fact...it was the local classic rock station that schooled me to the point where I HAD to buy "Pet Sounds"...believe me there was no Zooey there applauding me for this...Does LA and California still have mystique? It does for me...
