Ben Kweller: "Thanks For The Tampon"

We caught up with BK after a serious nosebleed forced the singer/songwriter to cut his ACL set short. Ben explains the cause for the nosebleed (something about air conditioning on the tourbus), and thanks the fan who provided the tampon with which he plugged it. Plus, he tells Stereogum to get some better equipment. (Maybe we should clean the lens too!)

Ideas for this video that Ben rejected:
1. Start feud with Panic! At The Disco
2. Profess love for John Mayer

Kweller's new self-titled album is out today on ATO (Amazon | iTunes).

Did we mention he's the nicest guy in indie rock? The album's swell too. Check out the lovely "Sundress" on YouTube. And see Ben bleed in person this fall:

Hahah...I switched over to the "Blue Room" to watch ACL live and it was right after the nosebleed happened and I heard him ask for a tampon. I had no idea if somebody'd thrown something at him or what, there was just blood all over the guitar and pouring out his face. Ridiculous.

one of the nicest guys in indie rock, has one of the best album of 2006 behind TV On The Radio, PLUS he fucking hates john mayer. this guy gets some big props in my book.

I love his new album. But the thing with the tampon was insane.

Great album. I picked it up at the Record tent at ACL, I guess they put it out early.

Just fyi - the San Diego House of Blues show was cancelled a few weeks ago for some unstated reason. Bummer - love the new album and haven't seen Ben live since 2004 (Death Cab opened - whoa!).
