Best Concert Of 2008 Alert: Grizzly Bear Opening For Radiohead

thumbnail icon: Best Concert Of 2008 Alert: Grizzly Bear Opening For Radiohead

Believe it. The rumors on this thing moved around earlier, now the publicists are confirming it: Grizzly Bear is opening for Radiohead for some of the band's US summer shows. Feist, Paul Simon ... dudes are elevating their company by the minute. We're trying really hard not to use exclamation points here, so, yeah. Congrats, guys. Grizzly Bear, and the live shows, just seem to get bigger and bigger. For good reason.

Official dates come on Monday.

I heard Liars were opening for Radiohead (in Dallas at least)

How do I figure out who's opening where?

Wish both of them were opening though. THAT would be a concert.

The Grizzlies are overrated.

And Deerhoof opened for Radiohead in 2005. Let's not shit ourselves.

It does not have Clipse nor Merzbow, therefore it should never be called Best Concert of 2008.

By the way, the Grizzlies and Radiohead are overrated, you stupid pieces of shit.

They're hitting Santa Barbara. An hour away from me. Seriously, SB rarely hosts acts like Radiohead. As far as who's opening, I personally don't give a crap. Never heard Grizzly Bear's stuff. Just wanna see you-know-who live. Then I can die (almost) happy.

WHY OH WHY did i have to already buy tickets for the show that is 3 hours away when i would SURELY spend multiple paychecks to see both these bands on the same night (and the medical bills for going into a sugar-coma-like-state afterwards)

I would rather have Jared Leto empty his enema bag into my mouth than listen to Grizzly Bear one more time.

I've seen them live. They were headlining. They were boring. Despite how awful it sounds I am pretty sure GarBage is correct.

Anyone who says Grizzly Bear suck or are boring is in need of a new soul, or tickets to the next Kings of Leon concert. Either/Or.

Hey, in case you guys are interested in another great music site, you should check out www.afamusic.com. It’s actually the website for this new digital label called Artists For Artists and, honestly, it’s got stuff for everybody, whether you’re a musician or an avid fan like myself.
All you have to do is register for a profile page (soo easy). If you’re in a band, you can promote your music for free, distribute your merch and albums, and even have a chance to win a record deal. For fans, the site is like a never ending supply of new music to discover.
It’s basically where digital music meets social networking. Seriously, so worth it.

This is awesome news... buuuut at All Points West, Grizzly Bear is scheduled at a different stage, not really opening for Radiohead, but just appearing at the same festival. Disappointing, seeing how leaving the Blue Comet stage to see Grizzly Bear will most likely guarantee that when you return, Radiohead will look like a tiny spec on the horizon.

I've seen Grizzly Bear live and was extremely impressed. They clearly have great musical talent and the whole set had a loose, jazzy vibe which I find extremely rare among rock bands.

With the exception of Radiohead, another great live band who actually makes music on stage as opposed to rehearsing their songs in front of the audience.

Congrats, Grizzly Bear! I hope the crowd is respectful and listens!

Just saw Grizzly Bear opening for Andrew Bird last night; Grizzly is extremely impressive live. They put on a great show; their sound is so expansive live (the venue, Memorial Hall in Cincy, helped, with great acoustics). That's going to be an incredible show.
