Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...

That's what I was thinking.

I, for one, dig the Betas, and it's too bad they gotta call it quits.
That said, I'm immediately reminded of their refusal to allow their music to be sold for advertising:

I definitely respect their "No Logo"ish stance, but didn't agree with it, especially had it meant the band would still be around today.

This is a sad day. The Beta Band are a great band. How can anyone deny this after hearing HOT SHOTS 2? I fell in love after seeing them open for Radiohead in Chicago two years ago, they blew me away (it wasen't the weed). I've been a fan of them ever since. They truly are among my favorites and they will be missed. For those of you who don't think it's a big deal buy Hot Shots 2 and Heroes to Zeroes and learn to love a group not always perceived as "commercial" but always, always forging ahead with the unexpected.
