Beyoncé's Dad Addresses Haterz In response to today's revelation that Beyoncé can't sing, manager/dad Matthew Knowles says, "That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered." So there.

I wish this was in 1998 and Matthew Knowles said something like, "That would be like questioning if Mark McGwire was genuinely breaking Roger Maris' home run record!" And then flash forward to 2009, Beyonce and her dad are up to mischief again (!) and we get to reference his 1998 quote comparing his daughter's singing voice to Mac McGwire. I <3 time machines. Sigh.

Is her dad saying she is the greatest singer of her generation... one of the greatest of all time?

She can sing, but no one can sing when they cant hear themselves, this audio is debunked here

ignoring whether or not she can sing (i'm sure she can).. what a poorly-executed analogy! it's obviously impossible to fake a jump shot on a basketball court in front of thousands of people, while it's quite possible (and very common) for professional singers to sing to backing tracks on stage.

Ms. Fierce tells MTV:

"Of course I'm just hearing about this today — and I haven't heard it but it sounds completely ridiculous. Everyone's heard me sing and it's perfect timing, actually, because I'll be on the 'Today' show tomorrow singing 'Halo,' or tonight you can watch me sing live on David Letterman! It's perfect promotion, whoever came up with that idea."

Which doesn't really debunk anything, but she's got a sense of humor about it.

how many false notes do you hear on the radio? it's all pitch corrected. Live music is the same way. run the mic wire through the pitch corrector presto perfect pitch. It's all fake. you have to go back before 1980 to hear a real vocal take.

Unrelated to Beyond. Wondering why our dear Stereogum hasn't stumbled upon this yet:

http://www.myspace.com/discoverdiscovery

Discovery = Rostam Batmanglij (vampire weekend) + Wes Miles (Ra Ra Riot) = next level shit.

Listen up!

She was wearing an in-ear monitor in her right ear.
She could hear herself just fine.
Unfortunately so could everyone else.
